Taw - I'd love to continue to insult you in Klingon, but it would be misconstrued at spam. If we had a thread based on Klingon language however...

ff - *shakes head* You know, some people could be offended by that. Not me though, but I thought I'd mention it. I'm surprised that the Mods haven't censored you .

Well, I don't know if it is a catholic ( ) invention but I found
univorsus (later universus ) as being a recognized latin word
meaning universe.

And I believe that Gottingen originally was a universitatis .
Besides, the gods and goddesses didn't really live on the world and the
heavens above it were not considered part of the world either.

but that's not classical Latin, is it? that's medieval Latin from the Churchmen.

You're probably right. I'm not able to trace back on origins of the word. It seemed too self-defining, so-to-speak, to be a true Latin word but at least the Catholics seem to think its Latin.
