sign of a failing HD?
This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

There are online AV scanners that you can use too, Wolfy. I don't trust them personally (everyone knows I'm paranoid), but you may want to try one of them. Also, here is an easy option that I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned; system restore. If you want to test whether or not it is Windows or your HDD, you could use a restore point, and see if the same problem evidences itself.
3 lost clusters? That's not too bad, but it sounds like your HDD is going down hill. Time for a replacement.

I am NOT the best techy here, that's Chetnik. Esq is pretty spot on too (even if he is totally useless at RAID arrays) and so are Musty and Stinger. there are some others too but they don't show themselves very often. I just have a lot of practical experience.
60gb? get a Western Digital or a Seagate, the WD is like sh*t off a shovel, the Seagates aren't slouches but they're very robust. I'm getting two WD 120gb SATAs to replace my 76gb Fuji SCSIs which are p*ssing me off (running hot ) yes Esq they both have double fans on, as if i wouldn't cool me hdds!

System Restore can be found under "Accessories" - "System Tools". you may not have it, but from your posts yuou seem to have XP which does have it. System Restore mainly changes the registry and restores settings that have been automatically saved every time a major alteration to the system is made. It has been known to delete the odd program, but your data should remain intact. I'd backup first, it's always a good policy, and then select a restore point. You can also make a new restore point which will store the current settings in case you wish to undo the restoration, but Windows should offer to undo the restoration anyway as it usually creates a new restore point as part of the process.

Taw, thanks for the info, gone to get one this week. What if wolfy backs up his data and just formats the hard drive. Wouldn't that be easyer, then he could download AGV and have a working program.

How am I supposed to know that he has 98?!?! He keeps switching back and forth from his father's computer to his! I can't keep up! Oh well, it's probably for the best Wolfy. As Taw said, system restore is a bit of a gamble. When I used it on ME a few years ago, it trashed Windows. I had to reinstall. I would have mentioned that, but I didn't want to discourage you . Besides, it's been improved since ME.
Final - It would work, but it would require the entire reinstallation of Windows and all his programs. I don't think that Wolfy wants to do that. If so, he would have done it by now.
