Why are you called.... ?

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

I'm enjoy studying mythology, and I like to use the names of gods, monsters, heroes, etc in games, etc. I have myriad names that I use, but I decided on "Esquilax" because it is a mythological creature that is not well known, and thus, would be unique (comparatively speaking). Also, my spam-filled hotmail account has the same name, so it was logical. Originally, I was "Oghma", but it didn't have the same impact . Bonus points for anyone who knows who "Oghma" is. Without looking it up!

Esquilax

wasn't he one of the Tuatha de Danaan, brought writing and music and stuff? sort of a Celtic Apollo? No i didnt google it (don't google anyway) I got loads of books on Celtic mythology from Dublin when we went there last year and I only finished them recently.

And an Esquilax is some sort of horse thing with a rabbits head, I dimly recall? what a bizarre image you have of youself!

Nice one, Taw! Oghma was the Celtic god of eloquence and language. I wonder why I chose that?

As for an esquilax, you are right. The old rabbit's head on horse's body; freaky lookin' thing, eh? As for my image, I think of myself as more of an "Oghmatic" type of person .

Puns for everyone!

i think I was possibly getting confused with Lugh. This Celtic stuff's rather complex and it's fairly new to me, but I knew it was summat like that. Do i still get me bonus points?

umm . . . it's a drug

Taw - Alright, you can have the bonus points. Do you feel better now?

Vek - I considered it, but it was a little too common. Besides, I doubt that many people would get the joke.

What 'choo talkin' 'bout, Cardy? "Equilax" is a drug? *aside to Taw and Vek* I think he's on drugs...

No Esquilax, Cardamine is a drug in Freelancer.

Oh I see, Cardy was referring to his moniker, and not to me. I HATE when people do that! Damn ambiguous threads make me mad!!! Be specific damn it! *cools down* Mmm, I'm beginning to sound like Arcon. Not a good sign...

Tawakalna was the name of one of Saddam's Republican Guard divisions during the '91 Gulf War. They were completely cut off by the rapid Coalition advance and were totally wiped out, but not after standing and fighting to the death, unlike the other Iraqis who either ran way, surrendered, or got blown to bits before they had a chance to fight. I rather admire folks who stand and fight even though they have no chance of surviving let alone winning, even when they're enemies. Also it's a groovy name imho and means something like "the Strength of God" i did toy with the idea of Q'ubt-ut Allah which means "Fist of God" but it's too hard to type, bl**dy complex Arabic!

i've been using this name online for about 10 years or more now. As it's fairly distinctive sometimes when I don't want anyone to know it's me, I not very occasionally use the name Solaris (after the Sun o/s not the film)
