Why are you called.... ?

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Why are you called.... ?

Was reading the thread on changing usernames just now, and got round to thinking - how do you choose your username?

I use Vektrix absolutely everywhere, it's my handle on IRC and a few other places. It was originally used on AOL. I used to be a captain on Star Trek On-Line, but that was five years ago now. I developed the name because a real life friend was doing STOL using the name Robotnik, and I just thought of Vektrix as a name.

Not very inspiring - but I like Vektrix as a nick....

Any more inspirational stories out there, please feel free.

As a freelancer one encounters some strange stuff - in the the end, however, you always remain the strangest thing you are ware of.

i got mine from the FL demo, i remember reading a thread on tlr about how freighters sucked at fighting, and so i tried it. hence my name

freighters don't suck at dogfighting at all.. as long as you have cover ^^
but seriously.. i lived on my humpback for a considerable amount of time.. but then again you can't really dispute the undisputed power and agility of the eagle!!! muahaha.. (no best ship thread, not this one)

as for me..
it was back when i was making my first ever e-mail address... i wanted to put my real name down and a bunch of numbers like all other freaks.. but it was taken.. all the kim's... so i put a 'k' at the end.. sheer genius.. til now.. not a single thign i've signed up for rejects my name.

When I had to choose my nickname in Starlancer, I picked Wizard. it was the callsign of one of the wingmen in the tv-series "Pensacola: Wings of Gold" (or something). When playing FPS' or RPG's on the net I'm called HilariousGangsta (FPS) or Navillia (RPG).

gromit's been my nickname in real life for a while now....my friends seem to think that I'm like the dog from the nick park animations. I complained at first, but I quite like it nowadays. If you're still no wiser, the pic in my sig is the real gromit...

Show us the gromit in real life then (I mean you!)

I combined 4 of my Ultima Online names with my orignal username and made RILMS.

TopGun was the Callsign I used in Wing Commander, but that Callsign stems from the movie Top Gun. There was already a TopGun on the site when I joined so I had to add the -

Yeah I write an amateur comic book about a gigantic black knight with a flaming sword......when I began this character I was at a loss for a name for quite awile....some of you may remember the old server client for Doom 2.

the name hit me like a lightening bolt ......Sir Doom.......

and since I consider the character in the comic book to be sort of an alter-ego I adopted the name.....and logically there are no knights of any kind in FL....so I am Doom_Lancer instead of Sir Doom.

when I play other stuff the name changes a bit....as long as doom is in there though......like for C&C generals ....its General Doom

most FPS it's Sgt. Doom.......

Good?....Bad?......I'm the guy with the gun.

bom, short for bommelom\bomsh. Witch translates into poo. Give to me by my old lan friends describing my quake skill.. In Freelancer I use Chmeee\Speaker-to-Animals, a character from Ringworld.

And if you were to post on a Marvel Fan Site (if you were into Marvel, that is) you could call yourself Dr Doom

Almost Everyone else has been given a Nickname by friends (Not that I mind)

My Nickname Locutus comes from Star Trek as all the fans would know,
however I am not an Adept Trekkie. I choose the nickname because it stands close to my true nature, Evil. and Two Faced, I might not be who I appear to be
on first sight.

I have other personalities with a nickname, Namely Gael of Ness,

Some that talk to me on a more daily Basis know what the things means, I am not schizofrenic, merely someone that chooses another name to connect his feelings with the real world, as for two faced I am somewhat excentric at first sight, I am not a backstabber though, I am however as close to pure evil as one can get though I appear to be quite friendly.

BEvilR is derived from Billy Evil Robertson, an alter ego that I came up with a while back, My friends seemed to like it so I stuck with it. But the Screen name BillyEvilRobertson was too long and I only used it at the begining, I needed something shorter so I used Initials. B Evil R
