Obligatory Star Trek Thread

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Enterprise is the best of the lot. that vulkan woman (whats her name?) you wouldn't say no lol.

Post Mon Dec 15, 2003 3:56 pm

I liked all of them. But I DS9 was my least favorit. It just had an odd feel. But I think the others are great.

Ah, but is it not DS9 that has the super cool Cardasian ships? Those really big yellow ones? Those are my favorite in the entire series, followed by the Enterprise from "Nemesis"

Thank you RILMS for the shirt definitions btw

I wouldn't call the Cardasisns Super Kool. My fave race is the Romulans. In any ST game, I'm always them.

And no prob about the defs.

@ESQ

Yay! You broke the ice. I am a longtime viewer, but not an always loyal fanatic.

@Taw

Enterprise can be tedious if what you expected innately but not logically is that the show would include technological improvement of some kind, like maybe better FX. But if you allow that it is a pre-pre-prequel, it works quite well. The FX can't really be better than, say Voyager or DS9. And, well, as Arcon said, there IS Jolene Blalock. She is quite easy on the eyes.

I think that, next, they should make a series based on the original ST but on a different ship. Say the Intrepid. Instead of going boldy where no one has gone before, the Intrepid runs military/diplomatic missions with the known races, regularly wanders about in the neutral zones and plays tag with the Klingons, Romulans and the rest .... spends more times in combined actions with Vulcans and other allied races.

@Arcon

*gulp* What Arcon said.

Wasn;t the Intrepid the Starship that was manned by Vulcans and was destroyed by the Space Aneba?

the best trekkie ships are the scimitar from 'nemisis', the enterprise-e and the defiant. The last episode of Voyager is my favourite trek episode closley followed by the one in DS9 where the Defiant gets blown up

oh no AoD, the Intrepid was indeed the Constitution-class starship, crewed by Vulcans, that was used to destroy the space amoeba/slug/horn thing. We're talking TOS here. "USS Intrepid, NCC-1631, Had an all Vulcan crew, underwent repairs at Starbase 11 after being damaged in an ionstorm in 2267. Destroyed by a massive spaceborne amoeba in 2268" "Court Martial" - TOS, "The Immunity Syndrome" - TOS

And u r right, Voyager does belong to the Intrepid class of "scout" ship, but I think ur 2gb is short of the odd byte or two!

DS9 sucks? get thee hence, callow youth. DS9 was the high-water mark of Trek, the Dominion War was the most gripping popular sci-fi i've seen for years, only matched by the Shadow War and the Liberation of Earth in B5. Also DS9 went into some really interesting sci-fi plots which Voyager or TNG never managed. I'm thinking of the episode where Sisko sees himself as a writer in 1940s NYC, and also the one where Jadzia and Julian get miniaturised while the Defiant gets boarded by Jem'Hadar, and many many more. I watch that Enterprise rubbish and long for DS9.

Galaxy-class starships are ur 2nd favourite? got a thing about something that looks like a badly tiled 70s bathroom, have you? best thing they did with that miserable excuse for a starship was junk it on that planet. Sovereign class look soooooo much better.

myself I loved the Defiant, the Prometheus and the fake slipstream one, the Dauntless. Klingon ships always look cool to me, tough and mean, and I loved the Breen ships in DS9. But being an old fart, who was watching Trek the first time round, almost 30 years before u were born Aod, nothing will EVER compare to the original NCC-1701 USS Enterprise Constitution-class, not bl**dy A, B, C or D (ah Scotty u were always my favourite, I'm so glad they saved you, out of all the old cast) and it did look absolutely beautiful in "Trials and Tribble-ations"

btw my favourite Trek character is Worf, he's just ace. Followed by Scotty, Sisko, Captain Slaphead, Gul Dukat, Garak, D'marr, and Jadzia. My 100% least favourite is that dam' Keiko and her spawn, if I was O'Brien i'd have spaced the b*tch by now. I also despised Kes, not least because she ripped her name from a seminal British film of the 60s but also because she was bl**dy boring, also that dam' Beverley Crusher and her loathsome little son, Weeeeeeesley; pointless characters designed to appeal to women and kids. oh yeah and the entire crew of Voyager except for the Doc and 7. I'd have phasered Captain Thighslapper if she got me stuck in the Delta Quadrant, sanctimonious neo-lesbian demagogue that she is.

edit - agreeing with Arcon in advance.

*Twacks AoD*

Don't make me get my Star Trek Encylopedea on your @ss man. And thanks for backing me up Taw.

And BTW AoD, the Intrepid class is not most commanly called Voyager. The U.S.S Voyager is just a single ship in a fleet of ships. It's the most famous of that class because it's the only one of it's class who has been in an. In fact, there have been three U.S.S Intrepids.

The first was the Constitution Class one Taw was talking about. The Second was an Excelisor Class starship, NCC-38907. That was the ship that Worfs foster father was stationed upon when they found him after the Khitomer Attack.

And the last U.S.S Intrepid is the prototype for the Intrepid Class. It has never been seen, but we have to assume it was there.

And DS9 didn't suck. It was just a diffrent flavor of Trek. Some parts didn't agree with some people. I enjoyed the various time traval epesodes that they had. Some of the epesodes I did not enjoy, I can't think of any off hand however. But all in all, it was a good series and helped progress the Star Trek Franchise.

no prob RILMS!

Post Mon Dec 15, 2003 8:42 pm

Intrepid was Vulcan crewed.

Right. That's what I was getting at. So what if it gets destroyed by the giant amoeba? What about all the missions the crew goes through before then? Or would it be too depressing to know what the crew's end will be in the end? And who is to say that the crew has to die anyway? Well, I suppose an all Vulcan crew might be boring but you could sprinkle some non-Vulcans in key roles to make it more lively.

What was it that Spock's ESP picked up before the ship disappeared? A tremendous sense of astonishment or something? Doesn't mean they all had to die. Anyway, just playing with an idea.

Ok. So now I know who Capt. Thighslapper is but who is Capt. Slaphead? Is that Tiberius?

Post Mon Dec 15, 2003 10:04 pm

no u silly fellow, Slaphead means Baldy! who's the baldest Trek captain ever?

Post Mon Dec 15, 2003 10:06 pm
