Obligatory Star Trek Thread
This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.
My absolute fave is a shared first place,
Enterprise and Voyager
Followed by TNG
Fot the rest I don't watch ST much but for these series I do make an exception
I am not much of a Trekkie, But I like the series, I don't have any memorabilia of ST

We're not going to get into a "Trekker" versus "Trekkie" argument are we Arcon? It would not be a good idea, because I'll win! . I actually wasn't expecting such a huge (and prompt) response, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised; space-flight sims are the closest thing that we can get to space exploration, which is the trademark of the ST franchise, and the main feature of FL.
In regard to the different series', for me it is a tie between TNG and DS9. VOY had its moments and I watch it, however it became a little repetitious (It's ST, duh!). You know what I mean; Voyager finds alien with new technology, something goes wrong, Voyager leaves to continue journey, etc. As for TOS, I must admit that I have only seen a few episodes, as they never play them on Australian TV. Finally, ENT is ok, but it is aimed at a different audience, presumably because Paramount wish to increase their fan base. This is just my opinion, but think about it; it has a completely different tone, and often doesn't "feel" like ST at all. To prove that ENT is aimed at a broader audience, let us consider the the moment in the first series when Tucker (?) states that he was "knocked up" by an alien female. Sorry, but that sort of colloquial language has no place in ST. It detracts from the whole futuristic feel of the show, and does not foster as sense of continuity. Yes, I am aware that ENT is based BEFORE TOS, but chronologically, it is of course the most recent series. At least ENT has some interesting plots, eg. the "Temporal Cold War". I'm waiting for the next series to screen here, as in Australia we are up to the part in which they enter a nebula searching for the creators of a probe that attacked Earth. Mmm, it will probably be on next year.
Still, you can't go past those great DS9 fight sequences featuring the station itself. Lots of carnage!

The above post is true, and by true I mean "false". It's comprised of lies, but they are entertaining lies and in the end, isn't that the real truth? The answer is "no".

By the way SS, you have only yourself to blame. You gave me the idea to post a topic on ST. Therefore, let me just say:
Mwahahahaha!!!

@Esq: A thousand pardons sir. I thought WLB started this thread only just caught my error.
@Taw:
Earl Grey. Well, I did some rudimentary searching and, well, I think "le comte de grise" is less appetising than Earl Grey.
Speaking of which, if I must take tea, EG is one of my choices ... but that is only if I have my favorite honey available to sweeten. Is it "proper" to put honey in one of one's daily teas in England? It is a Tasmanian honey and as far as I can tell, by far the best to be had in the world.
Any of our friends who nightly may observe the Southern Cross know of what I speak?

god damnit Taw, i was all set to ridicule you and then you went and pulled a kickass description about how mint DS9 is so just to re-iterate my feelings
DS9 - the holy MOTHER of star trek series.
Galaxy Class Starship - was someone pissed on the design staff?
Far Beyond the Stars - One of my fave DS9 episodes (although one little ship is a bit poo, except for o'brien)
My alltime fave episode of DS9 is "In the pale moonlight" the one where Garak and Sisko trick the Romulans into joining the war.
Fave ship - The USS Prometheus, then the USS Enterprise NCC 1701-E, then the USS Sau Paulo (Buff's will know the ship)
anyway.
...be good
"American Girls all weather and noise"

Yay! Indy said it so I don't have too
Taw brought up the tribbles. Wouldn't it be lovely if they existed? True, they would quickly eat everything on earth but it would be fun for a while.
Scotty is great too. Him and his liquer. Did you see the one where there were some alien android things on the ship trying to leard about humans ans Scotty used up his entire stash drinking one under the table? lol! I still like Spock better though... much better.

I expected more of a response from that. Oh well, the thread can live than

Indy - I can't offer you a thousand pardons, only about five hundred. I have a set limit each day .
Also, Lady Grey is better than Earl Grey in my view. The citrus peel adds depth to the tea. I hate coffee, and I drink tea seldom - too much caffeine don't you know?

u dreadful fellow. TOS does NOT suck b*lls, well ok it does now, but it didn't then. It was the TV highlight of my week, along with Thunderbirds, Basil Brush, and Pinky & Perky. Oh yeh and original Sooty too. And Captain Pugwash. And The Magic Roundabout
(I didn't even know what Redshirts were for years, 'cos my useless parents didnt get a colour telly until 1974, and even then the reception was cr*p because me dad just bodged up a coathanger as an aerial. and if u missed an episode u were f*kt because there weren't any videos unless u were mega-rich and had a Philips Vision2000 or a Betamax machine)
