Okay, maybe I got it. After several crashes I found an apparent "recurring theme" which triggers the crash. My game mainly crashes in two situations:

* when I'm going somewhere in "Goto" without cruise engines, if I fire my weapons after a while the game collapses;
* when I'm flying, if I open the Information Log I trigger the crash.

More, I noticed that the crash is far less probable if I'm on a mission than when I'm exploring: this is awful in Nomads systems (where I'm stuck!) because there aren't Trade Lane Rings so the flight is far more slower.

wow man this is the most exciting thing going on right now everything is deads ville. when the new release comes out man im on the band wagon.

@Garnet, that dosen't sound too good. In the Nomad systems in the current release there are some buggy encounters. Is it crashing elsewhere too, or mostly in them?

@Richard, I'm still planning on keeping the updates going for a while. Hopefully, when i get out the next release it will be stable enough to not be updated too soon.

hey, don't know if u remember me, I have been away for awhile. Athousnad thaks yous to you for frontierspace 1.74, I will download it as soon as possible to begin. Just one question, can I use my old openSp games from version 1.70? If not, I'll have to work all the way back to where I was...

Mace, the game crashes mostly in Nomad Prime; moreover, my theory proved false, since I managed to leave the system and experimented the triggering conditions elsewhere too, and it very rarely crashed. Hope you will fix the bugs ASAP, pretty good weapons Nomad ones!

@ubertrekkie, hiya, sorry to say the saved games from the old version will not work as some of the faction nicknames have been modified. This was due to Ioncross Server Op having a hard time reading them. There is a saved game editor that would let you change the files. Its a bit of an effort to change everything. But, the factions are fairly straightforward.
Let me know if u need a hand.

@Garnet, yeah, the Nomad Prime one is a problem with the current release. I'm still not really sure what was causing the problem, but re-making the population zones seemed to fix it.
As far as i know, the bugs have all been fixed for the next release. The nomad weapons are good, but they are not the best. They do offer very good damage to energy usage, superior to that of the other more powerful weapons.

I have mentioned this recently and thought that i should make it clear to help rhose who don't fancy trolling through the pages of suggestions and bug reports.
The main cause of crashes in the current release is due to some dodgy encounter files. They are called, "tradep_trade_transport.ini" and "tradep_miner_transport.ini". The first one is by far the most common as i haven't added the miner one to any new systems. It is for trade patrols with transports.
I'm not sure when this started not working, but there is a very simple solution. As all of the ships that have transports also have armoured transports, we are going to make them spawn instead.. To do so:
01. Copy the contents of tradep_trade_armored.ini
[EncounterFormation<--close bracket
ship_by_class = 1, 1, sc_armoreds
pilot_job = armored_job
make_class = class_patroller
ship_by_class = 0, 1, sc_fighters
pilot_job = escort_leader_job
ship_by_class = 1, 2, sc_fighters, -1
pilot_job = escort_job
formation_by_class = gunboats
behavior = patrol_path
arrival = cruise
allow_simultaneous_creation = yes
zone_creation_distance = 0
times_to_create = infinite

[Creation<--close bracket
permutation = 0, 5

.. into the problem files and save.
This will mean that you will see armoured transports instead of transports and will not crash. The area transports around bases is ok, so leave that one the way it is.
What this changes
This will work fine in both single player and multiplayer. For multiplayer, the encounters are all run server side, so they will be used and any differences will be ignored.
If a server runs these changes, all clients will gain the advantages even if their files remain the same as the current release.

Thanks Mace, no more random crashes (I really enjoy the mod now). Still a few remaining bugs such as Nomad Prime.

Hi No future, yeah i am still working on it. I don't have the same level of interest as i haven't actually played Freelancer for some time now.
Nomad Prime is remade with the next release, there seems to be some problem with the nomads with the current released version in some areas.
Cheers for your interest, hopefully it shouldn't be too much longer for the next release.

this is freelancer 2 imho

definitely looking forward to version 1.75...

what else could i say... it is just like night and day in comparism to vanilla freelancer... challenging but not frustrating... my second favorite is discovery, but i always thought it was a tad too easy to get rich and get the ubership in discovery...

now i feel actually belittled in frontierspace...trying to scrap enough money together to survive (uhm...yop...i opted for the more or less bare bones starflyer approach *lol*). thnx god there are nice and profitable cargo runs...even for small ships... but i guess it will still take some time until i can upgrade to a vastly superior ship

if i had one wish (now i am gettin greedy *lol*)... cold_voids random economy discovery would be marvelous in conjunction with frontier space

anyway... great work...highly appreciated

Hi, don't know if anyone else has ever had this but I seem to be having trouble buying a ship - I finally got the cash together to get me a freighter (dromedary I think) and went through the usual ship buying procedure, clicked "buy" and my credit was taken but I ended up with the same ship I started with... it happened at a couple of bases in the system I am in, will try flying to another system to see if I can do better there.
