Frontierspace v1.74

Here you can announce your own Freelancer MOD and find information about the different available packages!

I have found it. It was the mining transport patrol that was causing the crash. Still not sure why it wasn't happy.
It'll be in the next patch, but let me know if you want me to send you the files.

For those of you that are having problems activating the mod with the mod manager you can try the following...
You can bypass using the mod manager by unzipping the mod files directly into your Freelancer folder...

rename the mod from Frontier space_v174.zip.flmod and just delete the .flmod extension so it looks like this Frontier space_v174.zip

then unzip the Frontier space_v174.zip file right into your Freelancer folder
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer
let it overwrite the files and then start Freelancer

Be advised though if you do this there's no way to deactivate the mod so you will have to delete your Freelancer folder then re-install Freelancer to go back to the original game files.

Hey BP, i guess you could follow your instructions then rename the freelancer folder and re-install a new version of Freelancer so you have one modded installation and one normal one. It will take up about twice the space, but it would probably be easier.

Here it is Freelancer 2. This MOD IS AWSOME....................

The guys at Anvil did a great job. Im only at level 26 and i cant turn it off.
There is so much to like. Different layout of planets. And new ones. New
AI sounds and Background music. Lots of LOOT to grab , if you got the
sheilds and extra hull protection which all cost you!!!
The new ships ROCK. If you have ever dreamed up a ship. They have it.
There is every kind of fighter ship and freighter you could think of. But
the ship prices are out of this world. So doing missions is a must and
collecting all the loot doubles your pay. Weapons , Ah Yeah . You wont
get board with the same old weapons here.

If they ever had a Freelancer 2 , This mod would be as close as you could
get. They have continued from Freelancer very nicely with just enough
here and there. Adding a nice touch with one facinating ship after another.
Every time i think i found my favorite ship , I go to another strange planet
through a strange jump hole and find another favorite ship.

There is a secret mission somewhere in the game? I have not traveled
far enough yet.

So far i have not had one error. The game mod just cruises right along
no trouble at all. This is one Mod worth taking your time to play all the
way through and then continuing on multiplayer.

Thanks Guy's

Thanks Spacecadet67! I'm glad you like it.
It is a vast improvement over the vers 1.1 stability wise.

I'm still not sure about some of the ship prices. It was from feedback from other games players. It was too easy to buy the occasional ship on the way to the eagle and that was it.

I like it but, you really have to play the game a great deal to really get into it. I don't think it really helps that most servers give you a starflier and about 2k to play with. I allowed that to be chosen in OpenSp because i thought some players might like to play from the original game start. But, it is too weak really, especially for multiplayer.

When it comes down to it this is the kind of mod that i like to play, lots of things to do and if you get a bit bored in one region you can always find another one with a new set of enemies.

The quest, is hidden away in there. It hasn't changed from the 1.1 version but, i'll let you search around a bit and if you like i can give you a hint where it begins from.
Thanks again.

Wavie has posted in the news section:

hi ive a problem connectin with this mod.

i can load it in the modmanager and activate it but if i start it it first shows the right version and as soon as you see the menue it shows version 5.10 and i cant connect to any server because their versionnumber is red.
I cant connect to no onlinegames and not to my own lanserver.
I tried it on 3 computers and on 1 of them i reinstalled freelancer and modmanager but that doesnt help.
can it be a problem with the north quadrant mod that i was using before?
am i too stupid and just dont see something obvious?
please help i want to play this mod ...i like if i have a long way to work up to big fighters!

maybe ive to do a reinstall and delete all saved games but this mod is aktivatin and deaktivatin succesful in the modmanager...do i need the fl patch??

please help

So, which version of Freelancer are you using is it the normal MS dvd release or something else?

Post Mon Mar 12, 2007 6:10 am

This sounds very much like a seriously corrupt install of both Freelancer and FLMM. Which version of FLMM are you using, if it's 1.4 them I'm not surprised as it has real problems, it tends to leave a lot of stuff behind when you deactivate or restore backups on large mods.

spacecadet67 has a point about MP, I stopped playing MP because of the assholes and tin gods that you find everywhere else, I spent a good 6 hours on Sarges server yesterday and I'll be heading back there shortly.

**shuffles of with a new headache**

@ Mace :

Guess what ? Another CTD when i dock to a tradelane (Tau 29, between the Tau-31 jumpgate and Freeport 6). I understand it is hard work but maybe you should check all your patrols...

Oh, and did I say i like FS ? Thanks for bringing it to us.

Post Mon Mar 12, 2007 7:58 am

@No future, thanks for the bug report, i'll look into it.
Its not really possible to just check all of the patrols, if i find any possible causes then that would help.
I'll just keep releasing patches as and when i find problems.
(edit)
No Future, i'm having trouble reproducing the Tau-29 crash, were you playing on single player or multiplayer?

Hi just to say I have been playing your mod for the last two days and found it great with no probs so far , it downloaded ok

Post Mon Mar 12, 2007 2:23 pm

I only play SP.

Sometimes in happen at the tradelane, sometimes a little further in the system (ie CTD when tried to dock to Freeport 6). I guess (it happened in Manchester) that if i do not encounter that troublesome patrol, i may even be able to get through. But really, i do not want to rely on luck to play this game.

Post Mon Mar 12, 2007 2:27 pm

Well, i played in Tau-29 around the area you have said about for over an hour and found no problems at all.
I'll keep trying, Though.

If anyone else gets a crash in Tau-29 please post on this thread.

Sounds bad. I hope this is not caused by a corrupted file. I have somehow managed to dock to FP 6 (crashed when launched and docked next tradelane to Naga) and saved. Should I e-mail you the savegame ?

Hey all,
I have the regrettable distinction of being a complete noob when it comes to mods, so bare with me. I have Freelancer v1.0 and I have downloaded Frontierspace v1.74, but I do not know how to install/make the mod work. I'm really only interested in the Open Single Player mod, so any replies can be limited to that subject.

I appreciate your patience in this.

Post Mon Mar 12, 2007 5:20 pm

@fng344, welcome to the forum. To install the mod follow this list:
Installing Frontierspace v1.74 For OpenSP

1. Install SDK v1.3 (its an older version, but it is what i have used, download
2. Install FLMM v1.3 (its an older version, but it is what i have used, download

3. Open up the zip files, there are three ".flmod" files for each mod inside.
4. Double click on the .flmod files and they will be loaded into the FLMM.
5. Then activate the Frontierspace Client V1.74, by either double clicking on the mod name or click on the one that you want and press activate. This will allow you to join other multiplayer games running FS v1.74, but if you want to play single player you need to also activate the OpenSP mini-mod.
6. The start up options are a bit limited for OpenSP, but they are quite varied and it is only the start. This will allow you to play freely with no story and allow you to choose your starting location/ship loadout and reputation too.
7. Before playing, make sure that there is no saved games, restart.fl of autosave.fl in the saved games folder (usually : My Documents\My Games\Freelancer\Accts\Single Player). It keeps information in them from the boot up of the last game played, so make sure they are either deleted or moved away.

@No future, yeah you can send me the saved game if you like. If it helps me track down what is going on it'll be worth it.
