** MOD PACK ** Reynen''s Cleint / Server Ship & Equipmen
Here you can announce your own Freelancer MOD and find information about the different available packages!
I've tested a few battleship mods in asteroid fields. The biggest problems occured in the realistic settings one, where It took a couple minutes to turn the thing around. Perhaps if battleships were more manuverable than that it could work out. This is space afterall, not water. A space battleship would find it somewhat easier to get around than a sea-bound battleship.
I found that dispite the amount of fields in the game, battleships can still be taken anywhere. It just requires more time and caution. Which is exactly what is needed in this game when it comes to using larger ships.

All I can say is screw the complainers and remember the people (like me) that actually appreciate your work! I think 1.6 is very good. The computers have a nice balance so they are still challenging to kill, but won't take 20 minutes to take down one
I think you should put the battleships in. I know they are hard to fly through debris fields, but I have managed to fly above every debris field I've encountered, allowing me to move over it without any difficulty.

As far as the battleships go, mine are somewhat manuverable. Don't exepct to chase a fighter down though, use turret view. You'll see after I release the beta. I am putting in the 4 battleships then releaseing, but I might just release it with the liberty if its taking too long.

After playing thru the first three missions, all I have to say is sweeeeeeet.
This is probably something along the lines of what chris roberts was after till micro-ching got their hands on it. I particuarly liked the second mission when rouges were smashing into the planet and when I smacked into some debris and almost bought It. joy.
That said, I have just three things to , ah "cough... ahem", complain about.
1. During combat sequences, I totally lose sight of the battle due to weapons being too bright and pronounced, (i'm using the diamond back, archangel, prometheus and devestator). Possible to lower brightness levels?
2. Will subsequent versions require us to restart the game over. Not that I mind playing it from the begining with better game mechanics but, if thats the case, I'll just wait till a finished version comes out and just take way too many side missions/trade runs. Or just finish the original sp game. doh!
3. May not even be your problem but, every once in a while I crash out to the desk top, no rhyme or reason. The same thing used to happen when AOL was running. But hasn't happened since. I have plans to reformat and rebuild my system when my 120g drive and xp pro arrives. When I do thet, I'll let you know what happens to a vanilla system.
Thanks for a cool version of a sadly stripped down game and tell Bill of Gates and micro ching to shove it.

Radiation:
People have been screaming over battleships, hardly anyone has mentioned gunboats or cruisers. I am trying to take care of the major demand first.
---------------------------------------------
Kurkha:
1: I will work ont urning down the brightness. You also might want to check your monitor. It is a bit dark for me.
2: I do not require people to star over however I do need to know if there are bugs in the beginning.
3: I have not had that happen.
If you crash to desktop try these things.
a: Delete autosave.fl
b: Delete Restart.fl and all save games (make a backup first)
c: If restart.fl is your problem, once the game starts, exit and you can restore your save games.
Most often those are the problems and people blame my mod for crashing
I have the next pics for the battleships. They are now complete, I need a couple more ours to tweak stuff before I release 2.0 BETA. In order.

Hey Reynen;
Your 1.6 looks great. I agree with of the other posts of praise, you deserve it. Also, I am glad that you've changed your mind about quitting. Talent shoould never quit when the going get a little rough.
About your mod I have only one complaint; I can't handle it.
I've played the stock SP games 3 times with varying degrees of dificulty, the 3rd time at max. I ended all 3 games at level 38.
I've been playing the stock MP game on my own lan and have had little difficulty getting along.
As I once told you, I play computer games for fun and enjoyment, not to work at them. To me that is what your mod does, takes the fun out of the game and puts work into it.

Hey, I am loving the new mod.
The new ship AI is great!
From what I've played, I have a few things... these things have most likely been posted before... but maybe I can add to it, I would love to see you continue on this great mod, your a smart and creative guy looking to add to a great game, keep up the great work!
1) Having 100,000 sheilds for every ship... hrm... I guess the size and geometery of the ship wouldn't really affect your shields...? Having the same amount of shields and whatnot doesn't really make me want to buy or sell or do anything with my shields... maybe start out with a basic shield set and buy up?
2) I rarely get hit or even slightly damaged in most of the fights, and I never have to use any nanabots or shield batteries... Now, I have only played the beggining and I guess it just is relatively easy (Difficulty 1-4), so take this with a grain of salt: Does the AI's aim just not really that good...?
How do I go about getting other weapons? All the New York/Texas etc. places seem to sell the same 10 or so weapons... I've seen a few weapons by killing a few other ships, I am assuming all the other weapons are for sale in distant places... Anyhoo, which is the main source for getting new different weapons, killing or buying?
I love it when I'm chasing down some guy, and he hits some space junk and blows up, hehe!
Will this mod allow random missions to kill battleships and large ships? How about stations...?
I am looking forward to your future versions... and if I sound like a newbie, just remind yourself that I am

All the stations sell the same weapons. The "good" weapons only drop from certain mobs That is something I wanted you guys to find out on your own.
I have reduced the collision so they will not be very fatal anymore.
Sorry if some of you feel this mod has actually made you work for some of the stuff you want, but that is exactly what I intended. I can tell by the comments that things are not as easy to get as their were before.
The mobs can do damage if you sit still. Also if you attempt to take a station out in a ship you will get pounded on pretty hard.
I will see about creating different shields to buy up, but then some might complain that the game is "too" hard.

All the stations in the entire universe? I think you should mix it up a LITTLE bit, even if its just among the weaker weapons...
How relatively balanced are the weapons? Are your new weapons you are creating somewhere among the rest of them (hopefully)?
Reducing collision damage is good, but don't reduce it too much, because I've learned to just slow down during a fight in space junk, because I kinda like the high damage hits... it just feels right.
Working for the stuff is a good thing, makes you feel like your getting somewhere, and delays that 'hitting the top' part.
But how often do you sit still during a fight? Practically never...
Well, you can always start the basic sheilds at like 80,000 and go up to 150,000 instead of just being at 100,000... just a little change would probably be enough.
Can you do anything with the economy? Are you able to tweak that any, possibly making it a bit more dynamic? BECAUSE you KNOW your mod is/will be practically the ultimate free expansion set to the game.
Again, another thing you most likely cannot change... the scale of some of the space stations and battleships...? Everything seems relatively small to your ship... but this is rather a minor detail.
Keep it coming!

The weapons are very well balanced. I have worked with them over and over again I made all the stations the same so people would not accidently pick something up at another station that might mess the mod up.
I really can't do anything about the scaling unless you find me something to edit the .3db files.
I DO need help on something. I can't figure out where to change the class of ship such as light fighter, heavy fighter..etc....all the rest of the info cards I am able to do, but I cannot find where that is stored. Any help on that is greatly appreciated so I can put the right "class" names on the ships.
It's 12am now and I do not think I am going to be able to release the beta tonight, most likely tommorow. I am still working out some bugs I found. I had to add completely new info cards for all the battleships, but they are classified as a fighter As soon as I find where to change that I will. Tommorow is about my only day off this week so the rest of the week I will be very busy.
