YES! YES! oh GOD YES!

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

If you bought it from the tea toweled one, I would demand a refund.

and here I was thinking this thread would be about mind blowing orgasms.......oh well, congratulations on purchasing the most rapidly depreciating asset one can own. Now if you had a case made out of fine silver or gold you might have something considered a worthwhile investment.

Aod, post specs tia

Post Thu Sep 27, 2007 2:53 am

So... you're excited about purchasing a new computer, and yet haven't posted the specifications? In addition, you have already purchased it but you hope that it "will be awesome"? Why can't you tell if it is "awesome" now? Do you expect it to get better with age or...?

Post Thu Sep 27, 2007 3:33 am

specs:

Intel Core 2 Q6600
Gigabyte P35-DS3R
OCZ PC2-6400 DDR2 Platinum (Rev.2) ( 4GB )
nVidia GeForce 8800GTX
Samsung 400GB SATAII 16MB HDD
Corsair HX620w Modular PSU
Digital TV tuner card.
Antec P182 Case of Awesomeness (tm)

the reason why i'm hoping for it to be awesome before it even arrives is because some people have been having issues with DOA motherboards and have issues with 4 sticks of RAM (bluescreens, memtest errors)

total cost was 1012 quid.

flippin' eck Daniel, I thought you were going to have to change your trousers then.

I see no mention of an operating system in the above list? I hope that you aren't going to let the side down and put that Vista rubbish on it.

you get back in your beard FD, you pay Micro$oft to look after yours after you've already forked out for their crummy products, now you pay them to fix summat that should have been right when you bought it. Tawakalnistan Technology Products offers a lifetime guarantee on all purchases and services* <subject to contract> and I'd have done AoD's new machine for £700 dinar including wodges of software.

wtf? you buying off that bunch for if it all works you'll be fine, but if there's a problem it'll be a nightmare to get a refund or exchange. I won't buy jack off them, I think that they're a disgrace. Micro-Direct are much better.

Post Thu Sep 27, 2007 12:42 pm

nononono, i'm only buying the ram from there because they have it for a very good price. the rest is being bought from Scan

btw, i'm looking to buy a 20" non-widescreen monitor with a nice resolution, but my budget is only £150, so i can't find many monitors.

can you help me out there Pete?

i've found this one:
Clicky!

but because i can't find ANY mention of the model number ANYWHERE but Argos, i'm tempted to believe they've had an error.

I know you've got a limited budget, but I'd take a little off the size and spend more money on the response time and contrast ratio, especially for gaming (which I'm assuming you're doing with those specs). I know www.newegg.com has excellent deals on just such products though I'm not sure if they ship outside the US.

Post Thu Sep 27, 2007 11:04 pm

i've gamed on a 25ms monitor without issue. 5ms will be more than saticfactroy.

similarly, the monitors i have been using have contrast ratios of 500:1/300:1

1000:1 will make a pleasant change.

aside from the fact that uppon selling my current monitor to buy the new monitor, i will need the prelacement fairly quickly, AND the fact that 98% of us shops don't ship anywhere other than the US, shipping would be prohibitivly expensive (as much as the monitor itself) and i'd also have to pay Import Duties.
