Element of surprise, too. In all honesty we didn't assume anywhere near as many people living in Cali as you did.

And the gadgets Rob used would have been pretty much useless on Primus.

Post Sat Sep 24, 2005 1:39 pm

So you're trying to tell me that Rob's (and Tanya's) succes in Cali was (with the exception of support in the docking bay) mainly due too Rob's gadgets?

Post Sat Sep 24, 2005 3:37 pm

No, man. The success of the Cali mission is attributable to many factors. The element of surprise, assistance from Konn and Travis, gadgetry, and the ability to plunge the station into darkness all were very important.

Also, the idea that Cali had anywhere near 5000 people stationed aboard it is just not right. If you look at the populations of similarly sized hollow-asteroid stations - like Freeport 5 and Falkland Base - you'll see that they are in the low hundreds. You only get populations in the mid-thousands on stations like Newark and Deshima. Granted, the population of Cali is "Unknown", but it is more comparable in (physical) size and type to the first two stations I named. As such, I think that it's much more likely to have a similar population size.

and you also have to remember their would be some children and women who are non combatants. granted many of the outcast females do fight, but I'm sure there are a few whose paternal instinct is just a little too strong...

Do the words "TLR is a FAMILY site" remind you guys of anything?

Seriously, some of this stuff has gone a bit too far recently. It has been consistanly said by everyone from Bargib down that TLR is a family site, which is why they have curse block on and have rules against adult content. It's good that it was marked, but still, you could get mods over here in seconds if things go much farther. Just because the RPG is long and involved doesn't mean that they will ignore it. They jumped all over CYOF a while ago, and it was well over 900 posts!

Just a little warning, because the LAST thing I want to see is this RPG getting locked/deleted because you guys had to have the adult scenes in it.

Just my 2 cents.

I know it's hard to believe, Jacob, but most adults in vibrant relationships actually do have sex on occaision. Shocking, I know. But really.

Having said that, point is well taken. We'll be less obvious about it.

Post Mon Oct 03, 2005 8:35 pm

Geez, that's not what I meant. I don't care if people have sex. I'm all for it myself.

It's just that if we post sexual material like that on TLR, then we run a great risk of losing our wonderful game. That's something I do NOT support, and I hope it isn't something you support either.

Post Tue Oct 04, 2005 12:32 am

You're right, of course.

Thanks for raising the issue.

I actually wrestled with the inclusion of a sexual encounter for a long, long time (the flashback about Juan and Tanya was meant to happen when she was on the earth elemental planet) precisely because TLR is a family site and why I headed my latest post with a warning. For the sake of clarity, perhaps I should put a disclaimer on the title post?

Code and I have emailed at length regarding the development of R&T's relationship, I felt now was an appropriate time and natural progression to reach another level. Emotionally and physically, at least.

I went back over the many, many posts regarding Tanya's personal conflicts and the chances of romance in her troubled life were slim, to virtually none. For a race thrives on interaction with others, I felt Tanya was sufficiently (and artifically) starved of that interaction. No wonder the poor lass felt lonely!

To summarise, I can categorically state that sex, at least in the way I've written, will be a rarer occurrence in future posts, but was a necessary relationship development between two key characters and no doubt will be tested in future encounters. I don't want to detract from the main storyline, which if I might add, is getting more exciting as we draw nearer to an inevitable series of conflicts!

Treasure hunt anyone?

PS: Final or other board admin, I don't think it's terribly graphic or explicit, personally, but if you think the content is too racy please let me know and I'll amend it.
