Actually, didn't you already post something in the 'sign-up sheet' already, Jim? I guess that meant you were already in the fic. You've just forgotten, haven't you :p.

And while I'm not too sure about having a 'supernatural' character in our midst, I suppose it should be fine. I'm not opposed to malys joining in, but it isn't my decision, either. We definitely need more people.

And one thing about the Avarice guns: I've always thought of ion cannons as beam-like guns which don't do much to shields, but totally mess with ship's systems. Apparantly the other version (I forget who invented it) is a gattling-type gun which acts the same as a pulse gun (stunpulse/debil).
Not that either of these things are wrong, I just think we need to agree on the effect, for continuity purposes. (How about a gattling gun that fires beambolts that don't work on shields, but wreak havoc on systems? That way it doesn't replace stormblade, but is a separate type of gun.)

Well, Whasp, I took the idea for the Avarice guns from Star Wars' ion cannons. The idea of the Avarice guns, and the ion cannons in general, is that they can help in taking down a shield but do no hull damage. Once the shields are gone, the ion bolts will take down a ships system by shorting out or overloading them. This allows for capture of target craft, or target elimination without blood shed.

The idea of the Stormblade was to absolutely take out a ship's shields in one hit, or in the case of cap ships a couple of shots. After the shields go down the Stormblades is utterly useless. It worth is quick shield failures so missiles, regular guns, and Fireblades have full effect on a target.

The Avarices' bolts aren't that effective alone. It take a lot of them. That's why there gatling guns. Even as gats it takes a few second to strip a shield.

On Malys's character, I think it would work well, if she did reveal to the group what she really was, at least right away. It'd be dramatic irony and logic. If you were one the last of an ancient and unknown race, you would great people, "Welcome, Quigley-san. I am Malystryx, a member of secret alien race you have no knowledge of. Would you like some sake?" Only, as her background states, the GC and Blood Dragons know about her true form. They would take such a secret to their graves. Even Quigley who is very close to the GC would not be told because he isn't a "true" member.

Finally Johnson learns about the destruction of his home. Next post I'll get into details.

Yeah, I did sign up, but that really isn't that important anymore. I say 'Welcome Aboard, Malys'.

Oh man, I wish I had more time to post!
Oh well, maybe later this week

hehehe, good one, Jim. The thing on the Falcon is called the boarding ramp. It can also be called a gangway.

Just to clear it up, Quigley's riding around in on cruiser with four damaged Liberty gunboats.

It's getting busy here, good

Anyway, I wanted to set one thing straight about the criminals:

The "Loyals", I beleve, consist of the Hessians, Lane Hackers, Junkers, Rogues, Unioners, Raiders, Arigosha, Bunschuh and with the last posts also the GC and Blood Dragons.
I intended the Xeno's to be loyal to Liberty, but I don't think that is quite possible since Jezebel is a Xeno and all.
Nobody has talked about Outcasts or Corsairs yet, It might be wise to send someone to either of them to convince them to join the side of the Loyals.
They don't have to join in with the fighting, they could just back them up with resources, or they could join Rheinland, whatever.
Just a few sugestions for the next guy to post yet a magnificent post

Actually, Nick, the Outcasts would be drawn into this. The Hackers, Rogues, and GC are all their allies. The Corsairs are the unknown, but hey they wanted to ake over Rheinland.

We don't need to have the Xenos in the "Loyals." The Arigosha, Raiders, Rogues, Hackers, and GC all hate them. Even Liberty hate them. O'Connor and Lutz have a beef. The only two that have connections to them are Helen, O'Connor's long lost sister, and Jezebel. Helen abandoned them to join her brother. Jezebel has had all her connections killed in the fighting. As the leader of the Survivors, the remnants of the Rogues, Unioner, and Xenos in Bering, Jezebel gained a good rep with all. Leave the Xenos out of this. They are xenophobic and wouldn't quite warm up to the idea of the coalition. All the other groups have connections and loyalties.

@malys: I suppose that Dom Kavash aren't immune to the effects of alchohol, eh?

@jedi: Okay, that Avarice explanation works great for me. I'll go adjust my post about my use of the Avarices to fit it.

And does anybody object to me putting the whole fic (so far) in msword, putting it into chapters, moving parts around to fit, fixing spelling mistakes (etc...) removing OOC tags, and fixing minor continuity errors? I can't promise you'll see it soon, however, but it might work out. If it does, I'll post it somewhere...

I like the idea. Though Word is going to give you the hardest time with the italics, names, and script.

I was thinking about doing something like that for the backstories. Like putting them together in one post and deleting people who never showed up. That way, if you need to look at a character's past before the "timeline" of the webstory. You'd have it readily availible.

Thinking about people who haven't shown up, has anyone heard from Lutz and Capt. Savage?

That's fine. As I recall, Lutz and Michael are carrying catapults and torps. The whole load out works great.

Malys, you hussy. Torturing all the men on board Malaga Base. Just remember you can't have Lutz, he's married. With that cleared up that's one down and a couple of thousand single men to go.

This pace reminds me when the story first started. Seven good posts a day!

Go ahead and put it into Word, Whasp. It's a good idea.

Speaking of Lutz and Cpt. Savage, I think somebody should email them asking them to renew their commitment to the story.
