where can i get that md3d gmax exporter the link in the tutorial is dead

I have built the Battleship Bismarck and it kicks some serious butt. Everything works beautifully but there is one problem, If I create a infocard for the ship with FLEd.ids, the whole game gets screwed up and crashes when starting up Freelancer, the only way to get it to work again is to uninstall Freelancer and remove EVERYTHING related to it and then reinstall Freelancer. I have built a few ships and they all function correctly, now that I have created the best ship of all my projects, everything is screwed up. If anyone have any info on where I might have made a mistake, please post a reply concerning my problem or e-mail me at [email protected]

I've gone through the tutorial on creating a ship... phew what a mission! Anyways it worked with one small glitch, my ship is too small (yes I know how to fix that with scaling) however, its also upside down and sidways ... wierd? Any ideas??

Ok here we go

sakke: this may be a problem outside of the ship model. it is probably an error with goods.ini, if you made an error with that file. it would crash the game when you click on the ship icon. if you post your script from goods.ini (for your ship) i can help out.

aquilus and frost beast: here is a website that has assorted tools for Gmax, the second link down is Md3 importer for Gmax... click here

slig: your problem would be with improper use of the .dll, it is a very tricky kink in modding, and freelancer is very picky about it. consult catscratchers tutorial on dll editing (it is for weapons but you should be able to use it for ships) click here the second post of the thread concerns .dll editing.

archon: freelancer inverts the ship in the game. so you have to flip your model upside down in your modeling program prior to exporting, you also have to invert your textures if you want them to show up the same way

@parabolix, The link for the Md3 exporter is down on the website :/.

I am also looking for the md3 gmax exporter.. i can't seem to find it anywhere. All websites that say they have it are down or their link to the program is broken.

Oh well.. i'll keep looking. I havent even started moddeling yet so i have lot of time to find it.

damn about a year ago or so this plugin was easy to find now it's a nightmare. Even admins on GMAXs forums have problems finding it.

Yes....same here. Problem is - everytime someone has posted a link to somewhere to get one of the files, it never seems to be working...

So - now that all four tool links in the tutorial are broken, and none others seem to work, how can we get our hands on the tools?
If theres someone out there who has them, perhaps TLR would host them for download?? (Not implyin that they should...but...where else can we go and trust?)

i'v done every thing by the tutorial dut when I go to buy it it's the defender. Does anyone know why?

aaagghh. i got my ship made in gmax and i tryed exporting it as a quake3 file. the problem is i cant export it as a quake3 file only as a plasma (.P3D) or all formats. and so far none of the links for .md3 gmax exporter havent worked for me yet. i know i can do coloring in gmax i just dont know if i can export it from gmax skiping the milkshape process.

you can get the import and export plugins for gmax and ms3d in the tlr downloads section.

When I open Gmax, I get this message:
DLL <C:\gmax\PlugIns\ExportMD3.dle> failed to initialize.I put the files you linked to in the tutorial in what I believe to be the appropriate folders: "ExportMD3.dle" in "gmax\PlugIns"

Can anyone help me plz. I have tried everything.

hey drizzt GREAT TUTORIAL! man it saved me loads of time.also where can i get gmax exporter cause the link in ur tutorial dont work.also wot happens when milkshape expires how can i export it to freelancer then? thanx for the really good tutorial that even i can understand

Ok, so i have these 3dsmax format .max models i want to put into freelancer, however, i dont have 3dsmax and i dont know how the hell to put it into freelancer as all this tutorial is for ms3d, how do i make these 3dsmax models into useable ships???
