In such case, thinking of remodeling avalon_cityscape to match New Detroit from Privateer. What about that?

Sadra:
You're the modeller!
Go for it!
I'll put it in the mod!

Update:
(2 parter)
Part 1:
Found, and added some new tunes.
Still need a 700kb version of the Retro and Perry tunes to have them ALL in the mod.

Part 2:
I did a preliminary run, and it looks like the population is working.
Need some more tests to be sure.
If it is, I'll still need to swap factions around a bit.
And I'll need to redo the DLL.
And I may need to modify the difficulty ratings.
All of the bases are set at 8 right now.
In FL, Manhattan is set at 0, and Malta is set at 19.
(If that gives you any idea.)
I think that Leeds was an 8, too.
I'd like to keep all of the bases at the same difficulty level, but I may vary them based on Faction, or Quadrant, or both.
I wish I could make multi-system missions like Privateer had, but FL won't let me.

Update:
Just spent 6 hours putting in the names of the 396 Robots, and 4 of the Factions.
Still got about a dozen Factions to go!
And then I'll finish shuffling people around.

Warzog, have you considered changing the system backgrounds so it doesn't seem so flatly familiar? Even if you just made the backgrounds pure black space it would be a lot better imo. It just seems that it would be A LOT fresher with new backgrounds...

shasla5:
The backgrounds are actually 3D models.
As I'm not a Modeller, I can't do anything with them.
However, I can remove them.
I might try a few systems to see if people like the affect.
With all of the other elements involved in the mod, backgrounds are a low priority.

Update:
Finally finished putting the new names/factions in the DLL for the base personnel.
And I discovered that I'd forgotten to create personnel for Gemini Exports.
I whipped up 16 people.

Still need to put about a hundred people at various bases, and then the base personnel will be done.

Personnal Note:
Starting a new job tonight.
(First one in 2 years!)
So things may slow down a bit.

3D objects... I never would have guessed. Not to tell you what to do or anything, but I would suggest selecting the most neutral backgrounds possible, ie no big noticeable FL nebulas, but thats just my 2 cents.

shasla5:
Well, for the most part that's what I've done.
I picked a background that sorta looks like it's got the milkyway in a band around the system.
(Used it for most of the systems.)
Perry has the same setup as it did in v3.0
I've only got a dozen or so nebulae in the whole sector.
(Nebula are a real pain-in-the-butt to set up and get working right.)
So are multiple bases on one planet.
(Only did that in one place!)

Update:
Still got around 70-80 people to place on bases/planets.

Side Note:
Anyone know why Internet Explorer keeps going tits-up after 2-3 weeks on my XP machine?
It keeps dropping the connection.
Had to reconnect 7 times to get in here!
Never had any problems of any kind with this server when I used my old Win98SE machine.
(Which went AWOL several months ago.)

Update:
FINALLY!!!
Finished populating the bases!
On to the Commodities!
(Hopefully, it won't be as bad as populating the bases was!?!!)

Will there be mining in the Gemini Sector, I only ask this because I remember being able to get liquor from asteroids and that you are working on commodities now.

Post Sun Oct 10, 2004 4:20 am

Du7andal:
YES, there's mining.
Space Salvage, Iron, Beryllium, Uranium, Plutonium, Cobalt, Gold, and Tungsten.

Update:
Completed the Commodity file.
And it's HUGE!
263kb!
(And that's with removing most of the old FL stuff!)
Unfortunately, nothing shows up!
If I only use the "for sale" code, it works!
I've got to figure out what I've done wrong.
I've checked for spelling, punctuation, coding, and values.
Everything checks out...
It just won't work.
Oh, well...
Back to the drawing board!

Update:
One step forward...
Three steps back!
Discovered that I can't have a "sell" and a "buy" entry at a base for the same commodity.
Fixed it, and I can buy stuff now.

Only problem...
It's only giving quotes for New Detroit!
(Even when you're at another base!)

Major disaster!
A recent thunderstorm took out my phone line, answering machine, and I believe, my modem.
Couldn't access much of anything for a while.
Ended up reloading Windows XP.
Lost just about everything.

Luckily, I'd backed up the mod to my compact flash card the day before, so at most, I may have lost a couple of minor updates.

I'm gonna try and pick up a new modem tomorrow.
(Hopefully that'll fix it.)

I'll be offline 'til then.

New Modem installed.
All's well in the Gemini Sector.

Update:
I've got a few minor things I want to work out before I release it, but it's basically done.
