Tolwyn:
Not a Problem.
Freespace is a more WC-like game,
and Freelancer is a more Privateer-like game.
And as passionate about Privateer as I am,
I know that you have that same kind of Passion for Wing Commander.
Good Luck.

pSYCHO:
You're Welcome!
(I keep forgetting people don't know how easy it is to do. Sorry.)

lvxoccvlta:
Removing the Tradelanes comes with a few problems:
1)I would need to rewrite every system file for the mod. (Very Time Consuming)
2)I would need to rewrite every mission to delete them. (Again, time consuming)
3)Over half of the random encounters require the tradelanes. (Space would get empty very fast)
4)It would require me to include EVERY system into the mod. (It would add 15-20mb to the mod's size.)

BTW-None of the new systems in the Gemini Sector has tradelanes.
Since none of the NPC ships has the Leech missile (Cruise Disruptor) it's very easy to escape.

@Warzog

Since none of the NPC ships has the Leech missile (Cruise Disruptor) it's very easy to escape.

Good! I hated having to fight when I was just exploring in FL. In Privateer escaping was sometimes just as fun as fighting when they taunted you.

BTW, Chips may have found a way to tie power consumption of thrusters into weapon energy use, which is how Privateer had it. If you know about this already or it isn't possible, then forgive me. I am trying to keep up with the conversation but with over 570 posts its a little hard. I've read them all, but I can't remember everything that I read.

Update:
Doing a debug run through the missions in the Gemini sector.
Everything seems to be working well, to well.
I finally came across some ships with working missiles...
The SOB's blew my shield, afterburner, and all of my weapons off of my shiny new Centurion with their 1st Salvo!!!
After I ran out of money, the second time, I cut back their accuracy, a tad.
I may have to increase it just a tiny bit, but not to the suicidal point.

------
I do not know when I will be able to do any work for you. I have spent a lot of time in the past working on the mod and right now things are running... so I can lean back and watch. I dedicate all my time to Wing Commander Saga now, since it delivers the most acurate WC feeling to the gamer.
------

It's probably better this way, since you'll be able to channel your energy into your mod, instead of dividing it between two and running the chance of not giving either the attention you should . I hope you do manage to check back from time to time.

------
(Bob, you know who wrote the story for the mod, and even if you have differencies with him, you have to admit that he has some admirable qualities... for example writing a WC script).
------

To be fair, anyone can write a script; that doesn't mean the script will be good. I haven't seen the Hermes script so I can't make an informed opinion on it - though I'll say that the glimpses of it I've seen in screencaps look great.

warzog: I'll email it to you and pSYCHO, as well as upload it to the FTP in Bobstuff. I think things are becoming a bit too cluttered on the main directory.

I got it.
I'll check it out in the morning.

Bob: this means however that there will be no resized ships in the near future... no fixing to them. And no new ships with good maps (i.e. Gothri)

Post Mon Mar 08, 2004 12:23 am

Tolwyn: warzog suggested we can leave the less desirable ships as NPC ships, since they go by fast enough in combat you won't be able to make them out well.

warzog: Heads up, check your email.

Please unstick & lock this thread.
I've started a new one.

Update:
With Tolwyn's leaving the group, and the prospect of new ships being dim,
I'm combining ALL of the mods into one.
