You can download an old version of "Roger Wilco" for Voice Chat that does'nt install any Spyware like there latest version does. I have posted the "direct download" link below.

The MS GameVoice is nice, I havnt even thought about using the command feature of it in a long time, I always found it faster to use a hotkey, and I dont even use those half the time anyways. :p But using it to talk with other ppl is very nice, sound quality isnt too bad when you use a low or no compression setting, and the delay is the best of the game chat proggies I've used. The shareware version of gamevoice only allows for communication, the command feature is disabled, and only allows 4 ppl max, unless one of the users is a real user, then the max number of ppl is increased by 4 share users total for every 1 real user. (www.gamevoice.com)
And there is an issue with the GV and Audigy Cards on WinXP which prevents proper funcionality until a workaround is performed to make it work, just FYI.

I used to use Roger Wilco a lot, till LameSpy bought them and turned it into crap. BattleCom used to be a pretty powerful chat program also till MS bought them and replaced it with the (slightly inferior) GameVoice.

@Dedicated FL server admins: It would be cool if you guys ran a dedicated GV server alongside the game itself and list the GV connection info in the server news...

Well the direct download link I posted above of "Roger Wilco" is a version. Before GameSpy bought the program. That link above if you download it. Does not contain any Spyware software at all. I know because I have already tried the program myself. Plus there website tells you this anyway. Here is a link below to visit there main website were you can download it from manually. They tell you on there webiste there is no Spyware in this version.

Its a great program because it's so simple to use, and you can host you own Channel in a matter of seconds. More than one person can join your Channel, and it's totally Free to use. All this is done simply using your IP Address. Thats all you need to know! Oh and it uses very little system resources, and Bandwith also. Great all round chat program. Thats still the best out there!

I bought the MS sidewinder communicator and was annoyed to find that no one else uses it. I wish that MS had a forum for their stuff so that I could actually find people that want to play with voice!

That's why I love Xbox. Voice or DIE, Earther!

Well, they do, at least, give you a list of available servers running.
http://www.gamevoice.com/server/server.asp
http://www.gamevoice.com/Server/serverlist.asp?Page=45

I have even seen some FreeLancer servers running!
Even a couple non-passworded ones.

As for a forum....
Well, you have to take into account the number of products that M$ release.
If they made a full community, including a forum, for each they would make no profit at all...it would all go into server upkeep, bandwidth, and payroll.
I REALLY hate defending them, I HATE M$, but it just makes good business sense to let the users create the communities for the products if they want them so badly, and then the publisher can concentrate their resources on product advancement/fixes.

Just my twisted opinion.

kudos on posting this.

I downloaded the trial and am going to check it out. It seems like it would be nice for certain things like scanning, docking, etc. leaving your hands free on the two points you need it most, the mouse and the arrow keys.

I read in the recent issue of Maximum PC that Microsoft wasn't supporting the Game Voice product anymore and that the public servers we're deteriorating... I assumed they we're talk about voice chat though...

Nice thread. I like the idea of yelling at my computer.
