Anyone else use Voice?

Greetings All,

Just wondering if I am the only person using Voice Command to play the game.

I currently only have an old demo version of "Game Commander", and it only allows for 5 commands to be used.
But, even with only five commands being voice activated it makes the game quite fun.

I currently use:
Say "Fire" to launch missles. (Yes, I like missles.)
Say "Target" to target next ship. (Not next hostile ship.)
Say "Scan" to scan targetted ship. (Used with "Target" to pick my next victim.)
Say "Sh*t!" to use shield battery. (When my shields go down I usually say "sh*t" anyways! This just saves time. hehe)
Say "F***!" to use nanobots. (This is the next step after saying "sh*t". Hehe)

The only drawback I have had so far is that my woman, and my dog, think I am nuts sitting here talking to my game.

Anyone else tried it?

Fly well,

Pyrate Dredd

Haha, cool...I don't have it, and have never used it, but I'm pretty curious about it now...

Wow.. cool.. didn't realize those programs worked like that. I'll have to check that out. I'm not sure what I'd use it for though.. I've trained my fingers to do most things instinctively in an emergency. I might just use it for secondary ship functions such as scanning, docking, targetting and to pull up the navigation and inventory screens.

You can get a Trial Version of "Game Commader 2" at: http://www.gamecommander.com/

I have a VERY old Trial version, Game Commander Version 1.0...ancient.
I think I will try Verion 2 and see if it is any better, maybe even buy it....it may make talking to people in MP easier if I can just bind commonly used phrases to a simple command; Say "Threaten" to have "Okay FreeLancer, drop the cargo and I will let you live!" spoken on the chat channel.

That is really cool, and hilarious at the same time. If I used that method,(especially during some of the tougher sp missions) my wife would think I have terrets or something. Kinda like: s***, s***, f***, s***, f***, f***, s***, Ahhhh Booom!

Hmm. Just thought of a possible advantage to this. In a tough spot and need to get out? Just shout "boost" followed by "conter counter counter counter counter counter *cough* counter counter". Sure you might run out of countermeasures in a hurry, but trying to escape in such a way with keys never seems to work for me.

I programmed somat similar for StarLancer, but for the comms. Im currently developing a freeware version for all games... it works sweet with UT2K3 "cover me", "im on it... ", "get the damn flag!" etc...

I have yet to test it with feelancer because i dont see the point in yelling to make shields come on when my index finger can do it.

If there WAS a comm system I think voice command would be damn helpful.

I don't understand why games aren't coming with this type of thing by default yet. Or atleast a means to talk directly to other MP players if not a command interpreter.

The damn site requires my email so they can send me "download information"? Hell with that. Anyone have it somewhere for download?

Because it would cut down on possible profits.

If you market a game, you make "X" Dollars.
Market a "Voice Program", you make "Y" Dollars.

"X" + "Y" = "Z" (Profit)

If you market a game WITH a "Voice Program", you make "A" Dollars

"Z" - "A" = "B" (Lost Profit)

"Never give them what you can make them pay for!"

A very smart way to do business.

Be well,

They never use it for anything else.
No risk of SPAM.
I have used that page many times and never once got anything besides the link for my download from them.

Cptn. Dredd,
That only remains true if it were a Microsoft program we used for voice recognition. I don't think Microsoft even has one. That said, there's nothing to be gained for them not putting one in the game.

Besides... I don't play that BS economic game, if you know what I mean.

They did have one.
I am not sure they they still make it though.
I will have to see.

"Never give them what you can make them pay for!"

That made me think of something. Remember Privateer (of course you do...). Ok guys, prepare for a speechpack for the Freelancer NPCs.
