Judgemental? What are you talking about? It sounds like you just tossed that word out because its such a convenient way to attack someone's statements without actually making a point.

I could care less if they post in threads like this.

But they haven't given jack squat to the modding community (check that forum, you'll see I've been contributing a great deal to that area) and there is no news about patches or anything of that sort.

The answer isn't "give them some time." *NOW* is the critical time. The game is short and thus most people who bought the game during release week have already beaten it.

If they don't help the modding community soon, people are going to start selling back their games or even returning them for a full refund if they bought from Gamespot, Electronics Boutique, Software, Etc, Babbages, or Funcoland.

I don't want to see that happen because I am a big fan of this game.

11 - They've gone to Iraq to become human shields. Advanced Champion, of course.

Haha, that's a great one Stone.

I don't really run this place but I have an understanding with the people who do.

You honestly sound like you've got a chip on your shoulder, what with your "Well if they can't take it, they shouldn't even be making games" statements, and *that's* the point.

DA has already stated that they will not provide official support for the modding community. Maybe that will change, but for now, that's the word. And frankly I *don't* think people will be selling their copies or returning them for a refund just because of that. Most gamers who buy FL, I would wager, think it has a considerable amount of longetivity to it to begin with.

13 - They ARE working hard, they ARE reading the forums...
Err... is this your in-between-the-lines way of saying that:

1. You're a MS employee
2. You're dating a MS employee
3. You're best bud's a MS employee
4. You're dog's MS' mascott
4. you've converted your 401K investment into MS stocks

...?

Lol. Sadly, no to all five (or three and two fours). Actually, I had a friend who just got a job at MS, who was always kind of a prick. Finally ticked me off so much I just stopped talking to him.

Probably shouldn't have done that, as he might have been able to get me a job there as a lowly tester or something, but oh well.

Bhurak,

I am as big of a privateer/wing commander fan as they come, and I considered returning this game already. Once the story is done, it's boring.Maybe not to everyone at first, but evenually it will be.Something needs to be done, whether they support the mod community or release a very nice add-on that takes fan suggestions into consideration. I've posted my idea many times, and if microsoft would just make a post ( or official forums, that would be nice) asking for ideas, I'm sure alot fo people would be more than happy to participate.

BTW, the only reason why I haven't returned it is because I want to support the game so there are future versions. It must have took alot of resources and time to create that universe, now I paid them 50 dollars for that. Now they need to make the game the way it was supposed to be. I'm willing to pay another 30 dollars for that if it lives up to even half of my expectations.

yah@! i almost wanna start serious development of a mod for freelancer expanding on it tons more. there's so much awesome stuff you can do with waht they've given us. freelancers _base_ is jus so strong.

like.. keep in mind tha tons of different types of space stations. what more purpose could come out of em. owning space stations would be coo. n' there's a few different typed of battleships.

workin up 200mil to get a battleship would add a lil bit more to tha game. and people being able to dock on it... but yah. there's so much more DA has room to do with this. n' now theres tons of force behind it.

n' i'm SOOoo worried that they're gonna see how many people online.. when alteast tripple that are tryin to get into tha server that their awesome character is on, but it's packed to 32 n' 30 other people are tryin to get in.

... yahh... i'm jus prayinnn. watchin... n' i think i'ma e-mail DA.

tha LEAST they could do.. is make character transfers. *takes deep breathhh*

I hear you, crashed97. What I was trying to say, though, was that you're in a small minority. MOST people will not consider the unmodded game such a worthless ride that they'd seriously consider returning it.

At any rate, there's always the possibility of an expansion pack or patch that adds requested features, rather than having DA explicitly work on a mod.

Hey I paid 89.00 and no-one gets my game back. Hey lighten up guys its a game its good not perfect so we can expect version 2 but I guess theyll wait a couple a weeks (lol) .If ya finished and bored get another game sheesh.

Post Thu Mar 13, 2003 8:05 am

Unfortunately that boredom could lead to them pirating future versions of the game including expansions

I bought this game because I wanted to support the idea of a game that is similiar to my beloved elite.

i do beleive in one of the interviews, someone said that they did read the forums, but didnt post because they knew they would end up with far too many questions to answer......

if some of the TLR staff got together a list of questions, maybe they could be put to the developers....... then post back in a sticky

Hey I paid 89.00...
89?!?!?!? Assuming you're talking AUDs (~49EUR, 53USD), then I wouldn't complain - I shelled out 70 EUR (76USD!) - but that's 'cause I got a U.S. "import".... Kind of like buying a copy of The Clash on Japanese import vinyl...

bhurak,

yeah your right man. It was fun exploring systems and completing the missions. I played it for like 4 days straight. I had jus gotten my wisdom teeth out and had nothing else to do, worked out well ). Only problem was I completed the missions and explored most of the galaxy and it just got boring to me.

And to whoever said buy another game, I did. I bought starlancer for 2.11 . Definetly the best price I paid for a good game ever. That'll keep me occupied until a mod or patch comes out.

finally, one last thing. I am going to criticize this game, because I feel it can, should, and will be alot more than it currently is. Because I criticize it doesn't mean I don't like it. I am GLAD that a game like privateer has been made. I am disappointed in the content, which looks like it can be easily fixed.
