wel if you could kindly give me the adress to one of those DA people I will, the DA site is just a redirect to a Microsoft site wiht no info

IMHO MS is the reason why FL isn't the greatest. I would have rather waited another month to have atleast 2 more random mission types

Microsoft is the reason this game is even OUT. They could've cut funding way back when Chris Roberts left, but they didn't. Why does everybody always bash them? I bet half of you anti-MSers just read crap on the internet and join the bandwagon... Remember, you see more complainers than happy customers on the internet because the happy people have nothing to vent about.

And pacing yourself doesn't mean "stop playing the game." Instead of moving on with the story, you can explore, explore, explore. Then when you're bored of that, which shouldn't happen until you actually explore the WHOLE game, move onto the story again. And if you don't like exploring...well, I don't know what to say to you =P

? I noticed no bashing of anyone.

Look at the post right above mine. It's only two lines, the second blaming MS for not letting Freelancer have enough TIME...

What im sayin is, MS is a publisher, they wanted to get the game out so they could get the money from it. I have no idea why this game took 5 years to make. I could understand maybe 2, but 5? and this is all they have to show? a 20 story and then 4 of the same things?

And exploring, whats the point? Maybe if they have like Liberty Survey Inc that paid you per jumphole you found...

Dude, if people are disappointed they're disappointed. Not much you can do about someone expressing or agreeing with an opinion. If you feel differently that's fine. I won't run around razzing you for liking the game so extend us the same courtesy. Discussion of what's not so great about the game is perhaps even MORE constructive in the long-term than just saying "I love it because..." if someone from DA ever reads these kinds of posts.

That out of the way, the LAN has concluded. We made about 2 million dollars each, bought ubercool Hammerhead fighters and split up to explore as much as the galaxy as we could. Of the 50 systems in the game we could account for all but 3. No, we didn't necessarily find all the jump holes, but then again they just lead to different parts of places we'd already discovered. We didn't find every Rogue/Outcast/Corsair/et al base, but we didn't care since we were on the side of the law.

In short, less than two days after I bought the game I'm pretty much ready to retire from the world of Freelancer, but what a magnificent two days they were.

Despite it all, Freelancer = win.

Ah well, I just hope DA does include a patch with more stuff. It would be nice. I dont know if MS would let any SDKs be released, they usually like to make expansion packs for some more $$$

I'm not arguing about why he should like the game, but I do find it odd that one of the things that Freelancer offers in abundance, he doesn't want to do. And it's not like the option of exploration has been a secret, it's been a main selling point.

And just to be complete: if Freelancer was going to have extra mission options, they would've been done way before the release. So if Microsoft forced the game out the door - which is ridiculous to even suggest given this game's dev time - you'd probably still have the same mission options. That's not the kind of thing developers just tack on in the last month or so (successfully, that is). They'd definitely save it for an expansion (so the developers have time to recoup funds and regroup their brains =P) since missions need testing, balancing, etc. ESPECIALLY when they're going to be random missions that people will do over and over again...

aggred with the above what a 4 day (2 days multi/2 days single), buts thats it and now it has been uninstalled.

I come back to my oringinal opinion that another year in development would have menat more variety in the multi player such as racing, varying mission, ability to use gunships, battleships etc. Also that they might have completed the single player game which in my opinion only seems to be half there.

Infact the rest of the single player game is allready probably done and that they are just going to release a expansion pack with updates to multi player and the rest of the signel player and get more money from us. Its a good scam cause after 5 years of development i bet they have mpre than they released.

You're allowed to post your opinions on here GazzaBinks, I just disagree with your assessment.

I've got well over 300 hours logged playing MP and I'm not tired of it yet. Sure this might be an extreme account, but I believe your's is just as extreme. I haven't hardly even touched the SP portion yet.

If you really have that much idle time on your hands, you should be outside in the real world. If I had that much time off, I wouldn't be in fornt of a computer simulating an exciting life -- I would be outside expanding on my true knowledge of the world.

If you play a game, by definition it is for enjoyment. If you do not enjoy what you are doing it is not "playing." I suggest you put your time/energy into something more real.

Freelancer is a great game, but if you were expecting it to completely occupy your curiosity and fulfill your life -- you set yourself up for a great disappointment. It is a software application, not the end-all-be-all of experiences...nothing is.

The higher your expectations, the more likely you will be let down.

the problem also is that the game was hyped. hyping always leads to dissapointment.

thank you llindigoll for your assessment of my entire lifestyle. I don't agree with you or your opinions either.

Try picking on someone a little less comfortable with who there are or thinner skinned than myself if you were looking to get rise out of me.

Question though, how do you know those hours aren't spread over a long period of time?

Can I borrow that cystal ball of yours please? I need to make an informed assessment of stock options I'm considering.
