I am *NOT* buying this game....
"The die-hard space sim fans are wetting themselves over this game so they're not being shunned"
Really? I sorta figured owning every space sim I could get my hands on would qualify me as a die-hard space sim fan. Guess I was wrong. Heck, I remember first getting excited about this game when I read an article on it... right next to an article about another game in development by the same company... Starlancer... Then it sorta dropped completely off the map... and yes, after playing the demo, and discovering how the mouse combat works, I *do* feel shunned... and if heck people weren't feeling shunned, why would there be all the complaints about lack of joystick support? Is somebody that's never played a flight sim in his life gonna be upset that some game he probably has never heard of doesn't support a joystick? No, the only people that will be upset are those that A: Know about the game, and B: Like using joysticks in flight sims.
Now, from what I've seen, the die hard shooter fans are terribly excited about this game, but to me the combat scheme ends up being focused too much on offense, not enough on defense. Now, maybe successfully dodging enemy fire to wait for the best opening to take a target out isn't as much fun as simply blowing the crap out of everything that moves to most people, but that happens to be my cup of tea.
