Morrowind wasn't reviewed until it was released, so reviewers got the full copy. I played Morrowind and happened to like it a whole lot, despite it's obvious flaws. (Lifeless NPC's, etc.) I loved the open ended gameplay. It took me forever to even get to the main storyline, since I was having so much fun doing other things. The game is a real system hog though. The expansion, "Tribunal" is pretty cool as well.
Anyway, Morrowind is very unlike Freelancer in that Freelancer requires you to do certain things before you can venture to other systems. Morrowind, if you knew where you were going, you could head to the end of the game at level one. I think they are similar due to their open-ended gameplay, but it's hard to compare an RPG like this to a Space-flight genre game like Freelancer. Freelancer will rock the house, no doubt, and I'm sure I'll love it as much as I loved Morrowind.
