Freelancer manual!

Im sure all of you are wondering what the manual will be like. Well, since the NDA has been lifted, we can tell ya all about it.

Well, the version of the manual im looking at right now is in PDF, cuz it came with the latest build of Freelancer we got for testing. The manual is cleverly disguised as a declassified "Basic Doctrine of the Liberty Security Force." The backgrounds to the manuals are textured with a basic map of the Sirius System along with some metallic hexagons scattered and in bunches producing a border around the content. The general color of it is a grayish green. Looks very metallic and cool. Not lame at all.

Tobias (you'll know who he is when u play) is the one who found this "rare" booklet and he gives it to you, Trent, as a guide book. He puts in many sticker notes which are just tips for playing the game. The manual is full of text describing all the icons in the game and their function -- standard stuff.

No, there isnt any background info like some of you had hoped for but there is a short letter from Tobias near the start of the manual.

There are screenshots in every other page and Tachyon even makes a special appearance in page 25. The screenshot was taken from the big stress test we had a couple weeks ago. And Tach's msg to the world: "lol" Hhahahaha!

In total, there are 41 pages in the manual, 43 if you count the front and back covers. Oh yah, and on the back cover, theres a quick list of some essential keys you'll need to know.

Oh, and no, TLR didnt get a mention Nor did any of the beta testers. Oh well, not a big prob at all.

AWESOME MANUAL, DA! DAMN! This pdf is eating up memory. 64 megs just for Adobe Reader. Yeeesh

Oh well 46 pages isn't to bad for a modern manual. I had hoped for some background/useless information so Ive got something to read in the throne room when I can't play freelancer. Lousy un-networked bathrooms.

Hmm... PDF manual. I'd have rather seen a printed manual (like they made back in the days ) I just don't feel like reading PDF texts

I hope there is going to be a printed manual with the game.
And EB's PDF was a "beta manual".
Is this what its going to be like ?

I'm pretty sure there will be a printed manual with the game. would be kinda lame just to have one in PDF, btw guys when you get the manual, look around page 19 (if i'm notmistaken), look at teh screenies, you'l see tach's name in it

Can we only see his name or laso his face? And is his age listed?

Post Sat Feb 08, 2003 12:48 pm

Hmm. I take it you can't distribute the PDF?

Sounds great EB

When i read that at first, I was thinking of Tobias at another forums, lol. Thought you meant him for a bit :p Tach will know him I think.

45 pages for a freelancer's manual? That's nothing! I miss the days for 150 day manuals.

It's a screenshot from a stress test, not an actual picture of me, Wizard you perv. The manual is really cool though it doesn't have as much background information as I would like. The Bridge Commander manual was like 80 pages and had all sorts of cool stuff. There is a lot of background info in the game though
