x y axis

I've been reading alot about the mouse control system,it actualy sounds like it realy works well.My only concern is _will i be able to reveres my X.Y. axis so when
i push foward on my mouse i dive and when i pull back on my mouse my nose elevates,in much the same way i would play a flight sim, This may seem a small point, but if you play your games this way it is
very hard if not imposible to play the opersite to what you are used to.
.hope you can answer my question xth.

I've never really thought about this, cuz it seems a bit more like an fps, but my guess would be you can. Though EB or Tach will prolly post in a few minutes saying I'm wrong!

Hmm, I'm not sure if it's possible, I havn't looked for the option. It feels more natural to use a GUI type interface (move cursor up/down like normal that is).

To the PR CD peoples...this can be answered by responding to this simply question....are the commands fully mappable within the game. If yes, you can customize to your hearts content I suppose and twaek the X and Y axis all you want.

along the issue of mouse control stuff is it true that you have to hold down the left mouse button to steer (if so i can forsee a sore index finger)

You don't have to hold down the left mouse button to steer according to the latest Gamespy report. It says that the space bar can toggle the mouse control between flying and clicking on the interface, so you wont have to hold the left mouse button if you dont want to.

As for inverse mouse controls, I doubt it. It just does not seem very intuitive to move the mouse up to click on icons at the top of the screen, than toggle on mouse flight and the ship starts diving. Either way, I don't think it will take too long to adapt.

Personally I would find it very difficult to use a mouse in reverse. It would be like using Windows backwards . But each to their own I guess.

BTW: I hope you can change it for those who require it. As DA said, they want the most amount of people to play, hence the mouse. So I assume they would cover all bases.

Well when I play FPS console games I always have the X and Y axis set to reverse.

Post Tue Feb 04, 2003 12:48 am

I read in one of the latest reviews that the buttons are fully mappable, it didn't make mention of the axis though. One would assume that you could though, or at least have an option to invert them.

I actually hope u can reverse the mouse axis. I can do any kind of flying otherwise, it feels to weird. pushing up to go up, too weird for me.

All your doing is providing a target for the ship to follow. The mouse cursor is on a 2D plane so you just have to position it where you want to face. I wouldn't think of it as a direct control for the ship as in a joystick.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see what works best for each of us. Myself I'm just going to treat it like I do Windows and use it as a cursor.

I only reverse the y axis. Reversing the x axis, that would be too weird.
