Release dates

Can somebody explain me why the hell Europe has to wait over a month longer than US and australia, I fail to see the point in that, WE DESERVE FL AS MUCH AS THE OTHERS!!!!!

Post Sun Feb 02, 2003 8:55 pm

Amen, brother.

It's buggin' the hell outta me too. The more I read about FL, the more I'm like a junkie needing a fix ...

If there is no difference in US and Europe products, then you should preorder on for ex. EBgames and then it would be shipped to you before European release..

Its the principle

I want the game package to have British Addresses on etc... im weird I know

Localizing (sp?) and stuff. Because the French want their own language implemented (as always), every single countryin Europe has to wait.

Notice that the above made statement was a joke!
But it's all about localizing.

This is the disadvantage of living in europe... we get everything like a month after the rest of the world has it (and hey wonder why we warez games and movies so much).

FL will be delayed becouse it will be translated into a few languages, like french or german, i wonder when it's going to be released to asian countries, i bet their documentation and game texts have to be edited heavily

First, all (and that is saying a lot, there are books worth of text in the game alone) the rumors, missions, and storyline stuff has to be translated, as well as the manual. Then, they have to be playtested to make sure there are no errors caused by the translations. After that, they send a gold CD to be duplicated along with the manual and such. After this, they have to be sent someplace to be shipped by boat (maybe plane but they can't hold much) to Europe, where it must be unloaded, sent somplace, then distributed.

I hate those french (and germans, but not as much as french) why can't they learn english like the rest of us? I blame french television for that, I've learned english from watching tv when i was little, everything was in english and i read the subtitles and listened well and after a whille i could understand everything they said without the subtitles. But the french make dubbed versions of everything (thats why we also get movies later, especially here in belgium where half of the country speaks french)
anyways, coming to my point withour ratteling on about the french...
THIS SUCKS

so then why is it not released in the UK? i mean translation from American English to English isnt gonna take that long, if the release date for Australia is the 10th.

A question for all you people in Australia when games are released over there are they in English or American English?

Post Sun Feb 02, 2003 10:42 pm

btw, i don't think they translate games from american english to english at all.

We get games in American English here, but we are Australian, so we don't give a crap what kind of english it's in.

SpiT you might be right, then that gives them very little excuse then dosnt it

Its just some games are in English rather than American English, but i think i just figured out why... it could have something to do with the fact that there made by English companies

But then there is the Manuals that will have to be altered for Tech support address and things like that.

It still has to be loaded onto a boat, shipped, and offloaded, then distributed. Maybe they replicate in Europe but I'm fairly certain they do that here as well.
