You gujs you sound so grim i can't stand it you got to think logicaly and besides the one saing game was discontinuwed means that they aren't producing any more copies of FL1 and they can't just leave the story half done come on i bet they are going to do it right after they finish their Vanguard project for which i can't wait to get my hands on or FL2
Look at it this way....erm...I'm trying to think of looking at it in a way which means we get FL2.
Right, got it. Microsoft only wants things which are profitable. Freelancer (judging by the fact that copies are still being sold now and the number of people in the community, etc.) has been VERY profitable (like Halo).
Therefore, they make Freelancer 2, get lots more money, and everyone is happy. Microsoft is another coupla hundred million richer and we get a sequel to one of the best games ever.
Hope Microsoft is reading this *fingers crossed*.

If you wish for a second freelancer game, my advice is to pester constantly, if you send thounsands upon thousands of emails and petitions to microsoft, they may eventually capitulate if only to shut us up. It worked for fanfiction.net. Well actually that was only three reuests, and none of them were overly shameless, but still it's worth a try.

Just happened to be doing some forum admin work on my server's forums. Noticed a few requests for our RPG rules page coming from a guest and from one IP address. Whois back to who owns it revealed it's from Micro$oft! I quickly put it up a site banner welcoming them, extolling FL's virtues! OK, I admit I went a bit overboard but when does anyone get any time with M$?
Now whether they were M$ lawyers looking for prey or an up and coming M$ game designer looking for the next big M$ game to do, I have no clue. (I forgot the IP address so please don't ask) I hope though M$ doesn't forget FL and works on a bigger, better and more complete FL2!

it depends on how you interprit the ending, you know the whole orillian thing about being his eyes n ears in liberty...it could be the end (kinda a soft end) or it could be a hint of the next storyline ! but hey, we can only hope, personaly i say there will be one!

The only reason they will make a seccond one is if they get enough profit from the first one. which won't happen unless everyone goes out there and buys a copy of it. i know many wouldn't admit it but i would say over half of the people who play do not have legal copies of Freelancer, if they did, then microsoft would most certainly make a second one to make more money. all companies are runned by profit. no profit, no game.

it seems that the effects of the petition (http://www.petitiononline.com/FLPet/petition.html) never reached the TLR community...
We (Freeport 3, specifically DullesGuy) got in touch with a Microsoft Employee and i believe a couple of Digital Anvil people as well, sometime early last year. They agreed to try and get the project in motion, but none of them were able to get MS and DA together to arrange a development for Freelancer 2. As far as we know, no other efforts have been made to create Freelancer 2.
As i suggested in the other "Freelancer Expansion" Thread, it may seem like a slightly better idea to make a petition for the Freelancer Source Code, whether it be made available to the public or only to a certain group of people, whom will develop the Freelancer 2 or expansion. It may prove to be easier than begging Microsoft and Digital Anvil to start a new game. Not so much attention is needed, and they put little effort into making it work. And the Freelancer Player Community puts what they want in the game.
Other than that, the Freelancer 2 petition hasn't done much, and has already been signed by almost every Freelancer Fan.
