I can imagine q a lot, but I prefer being realistic. why build up your hopes only to be disappointed?

Heres an idea... you could dock without having to go through the doking ring. (manual doking with bases and planets)

also enlarge the bases and planets, be able to join a faction and fly around in planets

1)it would be cool to have to feed trent instead of having a trent that can live without drinks, food and sleep
2)A wider variety of dialogue for the npcs (they are constantly saying the same things)
3) allow a virtual sidekick wingman to be hired to help you on missions and stuf (for a small price of course)
4) and i liked the idea of having to buy fuel to run your ship and like have a fuel meter on your HUD
5)also a small rearvision mirror on your HUD so you can see behind you (like a car has)
6)A more 3 Dimensional space (everything is on the same level in space) it is sort of like space is flat
7)more variety of misions and things to do

I have an excellent idea:
In freelancer when you land there should be two options:
A)Manual dock into a planets atmosphere
normal dicking proceedure

I really like to see some improved dogfights... that u can make sharp turns go faster. do some tricky stuff. so that the fights always stay hard and fun. more ships to fight. and more ships that help you fight. so that it seems like you have a battle with alot of people. and you never feel alone in a dogfight. every battle has it's invluence on the people... people die... somebody wants to take revenge. and he/she is hunting you down everywhere. that you feel totaly interactive with the whole universe

To be honest, all I'd like to see is that they are actually MAKING a Freelancer 2. I don't really care what they add to it. As long as whatever is added doesn't detract from the enjoyment of the original then I'm happy.

Some ideas, I'm betting 10 bucks they've been mentioned/are on the list

- decreased visuals on the weapons, add anything more, and the ship would be shooting candy rainbows
- reworked thruster system - Quickly thrust sideways, backwards, whatever.
- larger planets and satellite bases (revolving around the sun would be a nice effect)
- A wider range of missions (seen this one) and some unique missions for each system that would effect where a faction patrols/resides (like taking out one base in a system, or having an amazingly-huge, possibly scripted, dog fight involving battleships and such) and that would effect the economy of a system (plus or minus, depending on which faction you help).
- and, if it were AT ALL possible, missions within a planet. Taking out a enemy base, Hoth style, would be kind of neat

And a story idea:

Trent has returned to fight along side the Order to destroy any remaining nomads within the Sirius Sector. After taking part in a number of battles, Trent is quickly regarded as the best pilot in the entire system, Which, in turn, makes him a target for some of the bolder pirates and smugglers.

A battle at Omicron Alpha. A fleet of Order ships, led by Orillion aboard the Osiris, and his most trusted lieutenants, corporals, and wingmen, enters the Omicron Alpha system. The Outcasts, seeing the armada, decide it would be best to leave them to their business, but upon overhearing a single name (Trent) in a transmission, they send out a single fighter, whom the Outcasts deem their best, to confront Trent. After a massive battle, Trent is led away by the sole fighter, claiming he needs his help - once the two have made it out of the range of the Osiris, The lone pilot opens fire, nearly destroying Trent's ship - he makes a crash landing on to Malta...

Juni and Orillion recieve the distress signal. When they ask for permission to land on Malta, they are attacked by the Outcasts. And through the unknown jump hole within the nearby nebula, arrives another fleet of nomad ships. Caught between the massive fire power of the nomads, and the calculated blows of the veteran Outcast fighters, Orillion decides to cloak the ship and make a retreat, but it is too late; The Osiris is destroyed. Juni, Orillion, and what remains of the Osiris crew escape aboard a cloaked transport vessel...

...During all of this - Trent, our hero, is hunted like a fox on the surface of Malta.

It would be good if could join a group sush as the military and take command of your own unit or even an entire fleet and the battleships should be for sale and move with a bit more agility than in some of the mods

A story line is one of my specialties so here is 1

Year is (whatever the year was in the original freelancer) .... Edison Trent the biggest hero of the Sirious and his three friends Orylion, Juni, and King go off on a reecon mission for the order onto a new discovered planet and are attacked by priviously unknown enteties they are outnambered they sent a disstress call Osris comes in and landes on the Planets surface finding all four of them on the ground unconcious they take them back to Osiris and take scans of their bodies and find an unusual virus which is uncurable at the moment and advancess at extreme rates so they put the four of freeze them in the chraio stasys aboard Ossiris. Soon after that the entire battle group is shot dawn exept for Osiris which escaped after takig heave damege and goes through an unknown jump hole that traveled extreemely long distance and exited right in front of an uninhabbited planet on which Ossiris makes an emergency landing.

127 years passed since that event occured and the Order became the most inportant military power in the serious system, Ossiris had been found and so was the cure for the disease that the Four heroes who misteriosly vanished 127 years earlied many advancess had been made, new allies and new enemies greated and more advanced than any enemy prieviosly known to Man kind from coallison to the Nomads not one could be compared to this new enemy called the TRIPPLE ALLANCE composing of the Damn-Kavash, The Ancients, and a group that controls them called the Vendini with far supperior technology than any seen before. An expedition crew was sent onto Osiris to see if they could find onything to face this New Threat, but they only find the four forgatten Heroes that ended up in history archives, and the damn-kavash artifact among many others like it that were found by the Order and Studiet by Scientific Group lead by Proffesors Cinclare and Quantain. The four were recognized right away and brought out of stais chaimbers to save the Man Kind again from far more dangerous enemy than the Nomads.

The best thing i would like to see in Freelancer 2 ( if theres gonna be one )
is being able to control your character in 3rd mode, walk around the base/planet
maybe buy your own apartment ( maybe this sounds more like MMORPG ) but would be great, then load your ship with cargo jump in the cockpit and off you go. Leading from this having a personal weapon than you can buy, pistol or plasma rifle etc.

WHEN OH when are they going to go the whole hog and just integrate the ID First persion shoot-em up with this excellent star flight scenario. Just think how it would make a game very very long, not to mention the chance to mod a character in infinite number of ways. Persona gear as well as ship gear.

So you get space battles;

You get trade commerce etc. Make shed loads a money

And you get ground combat. Think of the fun of fighting you way to your ship, clearing out your ship, taking off and running the gauntlet of cops, pirates, and other nasties, clearing orbital defence systems, then making out
far enough to jump system.

And yes, get rid of those sodding jump gates. Or at least set a certain level of star ship with its own jump engines, nav computer etc. Navigating in 3D would be a hoot. Come on the logisitcs can't be that hard, elite had it all on a floppy disk.

How about fractally generated planets, planets which you could fly right down to?Not as detailed as here:

I thought about this a bit the other day. I'm afraid I don't track this thread, so apologies for any duplications.

Jump Gates/Holes should be reduced to ship-based, but you can only use them around the edges of the systems and not in the middle. You could invent some sci-fi tat about gravity wells or such like to justify this. Now, you would be able to interrupt your jump whenever you wanted and just stop in the middle of space. Coupled with the ability to build your own bases, I can envisage that ability giving rise to a whole load of secret bases, that you'd only really be able to get to with either knowledge or extreme luck.

In online play, defined areas where PvP is allowed (if it's not allowed as a rule on the server). Killing players in this area can net you serious rewards, but if you get killed you lose everything and start over with a Starflier (think Runescape - wilderness).

Another lift from Runescape - the ability to arrange a duel. You'd get control over a flexible setup. For instance, you might have a Humpback duel with all Codenames. You could duel for money, equipment, or just for fun.

Tracking devices. Say someone shoots you up good. You're going to want revenge, aren't you? Get a tracking device on him before you die and he'll appear on your Nav Map and on your Important sensor display (if you're in the same system) until you catch up with him and kill him.

The ability to command AI ships to a limited extent. For example, say, you would order a ship to join formation with you, or come to you.

That's all for now.

EDIT: Ships should be more specialised. For example, pirate ships would have good weapons, cargo space and speed, but not suited to long battles. Bounty Hunter ships would have good speed, weapons and shields, suited to dogfighting. Civilian fighters would have excellent shielding and speed, but not much by way of weaponry
