Sabre vs. Titan:

This is a free discussion forum on Freelancer. This is the place to discuss Freelancer issues NOT covered by the other boards!

Congrats for keeping this topic open for so long, it shows that most people are thinking a bit more about what they post, wich is good.
Keep it up!

And yes, a topic like this should be stickied, but do it in the spoiler or something.
That way people can post away without using up to much server capacity.

@Andyinlondon: You're not by chance Andy_Kill are you? anyway, I agree with your choice of ship and loadout.

To address the search engine issue that was brought up earlier in the thread, I just did a search for 'best mission payments' to find out where you get paid most.
Guess which thread I was directed to first :p
[If anyone has suggestions for non-Corsair/Outcast sponsored ones, I'd be glad to hear them

you are quite elloquent lethal larry, in fact I copied your whole argument down to notepad for future use against flamers, trolls, and people who check forums too often. I couldn't have said it better myself, good job.

now for my person question, which I don't expect anyone to answer, which is better: eagle or sabre?
lol

Thank you, veqryn, you flatter me.

As to your question, I'm in no position to answer it, as I haven't tried an Eagle yet. From my one experiment with a Titan, it stuck me as not being nearly as bad as everybody made it out to be, so I guess the moral of the story here is just try them all yourself, as any opinions you might receive here will be, suffice it to say, quite subjective based upon the personal preferences of the individuals who are posting them.

Besides which, the Sabre looks a hell of a lot better than the Eagle; it's much better for cruising around and picking up chicks with, in my experience.

Yes, absolutely everything I post, including this, is spam.
Bite me.

Earlier I said the Eagle suffices. I still agree with that, but now that I'm going into deeper combat (I finaly found the nomad jump holes, I overlooked the jump hole listing in the spoiler forum before!) I'm going with the Sabre. When you're out of sheild batteries and are being pounded by nomads, you thank god for that extra 1,000 or so armor. Plus, it's your armor ammount that decides how long you spend in radioactive areas, which contain the coolest bases and systems. The more the better!. --- RR16

HI again larry, here is what I did to solve the problem:
first off, I have a ton of money, and have manage through carefull choosing of missions and who to kill and who not to kill (ie run away from) only the xenos and mollys don't like me, so I went to all three bases and bought the SABRE, the EAGLE, and the TITAN. I made saves for each so I could come back and try them again. so this is what I found out
The TITAN and the SABRE have the EXACT SAME handling, and turn at the exact same speed. the only difference between the two of them is that the TITAN has more hull armor, and the SABRE has a turret that fires forward. THAT IS THE ONLY DIFFERENCE.
As for the EAGLE, it can turn faster then or just as fast as any ship in the game. (To test this out, I bought a two different light fights, the banshee and some other one, and it could handle and turn JUST AS FAST). Anyway, The EAGLE can do a 360 in just under 5 seconds, while the TITAN and SABRE can do a 360 in 6 seconds. Does sound like much but it is a huge difference. Also, the Eagle has less hull armor (not by much tho), and the Eagle's turret can't fire forward but can fire to both the left and right bottom corners of your screen (better angle then the titan's).

Personal preferance so far: eagle
What I don't understand about people who post here: why they think the titan has better turning then the sabre AND why people think that a little more armor helps them out in radioactive areas, cus I explored all the damn omicrons, sigmas, taus, and omegas WITH a humpback and didn't have any problems with radiation.

there you go, my conclusions

Thank You Larry for a well versed argument. I have moved over to Battleclinic.com cos any question asked gets killed. Is it a problem with the site crashing? Memory? So what if the same stuff comes up! As long as there are people who want to talk about it let them. The Ego heads come up in every thread, I scanned through and these numpties must SEARCH OUT threads they want to slag off. Well I'm back to the Multi player to get my Sabre. I'm near 3 million in the bank and hope that is enough, at 6000 creds a missle this sh*t get exspensive. Yes I know some all guns, I prefer the technique of two missle launchers Cannonballs, + me guns then its two in the face a quick blast and good night charlie!! + partial to the fly past and dump a screamer mine in there face!!

I stil maintain that the Hammerhead or a good LF is better than all three of those junk heaps, with a decent pilot at the helm. Class 10 or no, if you can't hit it, you can't beat it.

*edit* that is, of course, an opinion, but I can say with honesty that I have tried every VHF, and so far, the Bounty Hunters' craft strikes me as the most attractive option. Someone care to back me up with the turn rate?

"Although I do not consider myself a member of the Bounty Hunters' Guild, I find that their goals and mine often follow the same path. I will aid them when I can...if they give me a percentage of the salvage from whatever they frag along the way. Hell, they were even so kind as to sell me a ship after one of my jobs with them, and I've been flying her ever since. But god help them if someone puts a bounty on THEIR heads, for I don't care who I hunt for, as long as their live capture(or untimely death) can get me enough credits to buy a decent sized mug of my favorite drink."- A Freelance Bounty Hunter.

Don't know if I'd say a Hammerhead is better than an Eagle. But I was surprised when I upgraded from the Hammerhead at how little difference there was.

I flew a barracuda for quite a while and it was very nice. I still prefer VHF's tho.
I agree with verqyn that all three are about the same (although I prefer the mighty sabre!) and with NukeIt in that with a good pilot nearly any ship can take down any AI. Hey wait... these conclusions sound farmilier........

Who are you and why are you reading my quote?
