Mission 2- King''s Cruise disruptor?

"Dam*it, hes gone into cruise, fireing cruise disruptor, cruise missle missed"

This was king in mission two... But I looked at his inventory:

No cruise disrupter installed. WTF?!

Computer "cheats". Nothing new.

*****SPOILER!!!!!!!!!!*****

Same with Juni. She keeps flying a liberty Defender while we are in the last mission of the game. She can't die.

I was wondering about the same thing. I had scanned King because he was talking about firing a disruptor even though he wasn't in CD range of Ashcroft (2.5 km). Perhaps he hocked his LSF issue disruptor launcher because he needed some cash?

But I wondered even more about the class 1 'Advanced Beam' guns shown in Xeno's screenie. I have never seen such a weapon in this game and 'Advanced' is always abbreviated as 'Adv.' in weapon names. Besides that, 'Advanced' does not jibe with the guns being class 1 ...

BTW, the Patriot can mount a cruise disruptor launcher. This is one of its many advantages. And Juni's Defender is a different type from the low-level Defenders that the Navy uses and that you can buy. She does cheat a little during the late missions but not as much as you'd think based on the stats of the normal Defenders.

I wonder how many people headed out to the Silverton Asteroid Field after Xeno's post, to see with their own eyes what's up ... King was using Justice Mk 1s, just as I remembered. So what's this with the 'Advanced Beam' thingies?

Ashcroft's supposed to get away so you have to chase him. If King really fired a cruise disruptor at him, he'd have to be in range, etc. etc. and there's a chance it would hit, altering the mission. So, my guess is it's just a way of making something happen to increase the "drama" or whatever without really doing anything.

As for Juni's ship, yes, it's invincible. And she carries a light fighter shield on her heavy fighter for most of the game

Yes, but they could have added a disruptor to King's loadout, especially in the very part of the tutorial that teaches you hoq to scan ships.

And Juni isn't always invincible. On the other hand, I recently flew mission 3 again in a Dagger (with my new favourite all-gun loadout that is good enough to kill Stilettos and Centurions easily); since I knew what was coming I managed to kill all Outcasts during the first skirmish before any one of them even got in gun/missile range of the two t********s but afterwards one of the t********s was trailing flames out of one engine as usual ...

I would imagine that he's running the beam weapon mod included with FLMM, the one that "Makes the Justice MK1 gun into a lethal beam weapon!"

I can only please one person per day.
Today isn't your day.
Tomorrow doesn't look good either.

i also noticed that..

maybe he ordered the others man at the team to fire cruise disruptor..

i will scan other NPC after this...

ps: i came back to Liberty after being chase away to border world (drug bisness with junker) and scan the Liberty navy, the weapon type is higher that it suppose to, on mission to destroy satellite the same thing happened..

Yeah, computer ships are held to different weapon capabilities than when you have the same ship. Some of their equipment (e.g. shields) also have different stats sometimes.

Post Sun Aug 03, 2003 5:10 am

Yes, I was useing the Advanced beam mod in the begining, turned that off because i didn't use it anymore.

The patriot should be able to carry a CD, but I never have seen one equiped.

He wouldnt have time to order someone else to do it.

Has anyone tried hitting Ashcroft with their own CD? The Patriot can mount them and can be bought before mission 2.

It is possible to kill Ashcroft before he flees. Once, I happened to be in just the right place when Ashcroft spawned, and had a powerful enough loadout (gotta love the Javelin) to kill him before he got up to cruise speed. I've tried in vain to do that again, but I haven't found myself closer than 3k to his spawn point yet...

I wonder if the mission would flunk if you nailed king with a disrupter...I don't think it has enough firepower to trigger the "you fired on a friendly" failure...

Reaper: $200,000,000.
Rockets: $100,000
The look on that pilot's face when you launch a full pod of screamers up his tailpipe: priceless

Au contraire - even the low-damage Wasp triggers hostility immediately. Combine that with its extreme speed/range and you got an absolute winner here ...
