Why do people keep saying the missiles suck?
Now, I may be missing something, but I didn't lose any money using them. I used my guns to take down the shields of the target, then finished it off with a pair of missiles in the face. And repeated. And again. And again. And I gained money doing it, because the trade-in value of the salvage I gathered far outweighed the cost of the replacement missiles. I used one pair per enemy to supplement my guns, making sure to use them while it was not actively evading.
See, I may be wrong, but I think missiles were never meant to be completely independent. And they are incredibly damaging weapons; they do more armor damage than any other weapon per shot. A pair of more powerful missiles can whack an incredible amount of armor off the armor of even a top-end ship. So where, exactly, is the problem here?
People are just expecting more out of their missiles than they were designed to give. They are auxiliary weapons, not main ones. 1-hit-1-kill missiles are not what the developers had in mind, I think.
