its very true that there are many games that will compete with it, but definitely there is a chance that Doom 3 and Deus Ex 2 will not make it to the stores this year... i was pissed off when they pushed it back from late '02, but now that it;'s here it's better to have delayed and made it better, then like NWN to release a month earlier with no aurora toolset documentation...

Doom 3 and DX2 could be disappointing like Unreal2 (hope not I love DX). Freelancer is definitely will get Space Sim of the year (unfortunately I just found out that X2 doesn't have an american publisher yet).

I don't think X2 has any publisher yet. But since it has reached pretty far in development, with a rolling demo said to be out soon, it should be out this year (I hope). If X2 delivers what it's said to deliver, Freelancer will get some real competition in the space sim genre.
