It may have to do with the fact that the game was produced in the US, that fake accents always sound silly and that it's easier to find good voice talents that don't have an accent. And there are blacks in the game.

Sinclair is black, also.

Also, one of the Bretonian bar voices for women has a British accent. And I've detected one of the Rheinland pilots as putting a lot of emphasis on the "Rh" in "Rheinland".

But yeah, generally not much accent.

What I can't figure out is why the Kusari flight groups use Japanese characters for their flight groups, while everybody else uses Greek (alpha, epsilon, etc.)

This subject has already been beat around. Yes there are realistic accents but done with American English...and yes there are blacks and hispanics(which my wife is). So....next subject please.

Later in the game you get to fly a mission in Kusari space. The accent on the computer avatar is so thick that it's very close to being a parody. Or worse, it comes even closer to being downright demeaning.

Could also just be budget constraints or simply the available personnel in the office to provide the "voices" for the less than main characters.

also in the very first cutscene, after trent has landed, you can see a black person behind him. some of the traffic control ops are black...

but when u find a man that is CLEARLY asian, and talks like a texas bartended, you sorta hafta wonder...

I noticed that some of the voices were actually better in the Demo. Several of them were changed in the Full Version.

Yeah, I know they have accents in single player now. Why are all the MP NPCs American?

i find the accent reasonabale but don't forget that it is 31 centuary and they live on other planets
i found in sp that rheinlander have an (hollywood) german accent and tobias i think is an english actor who played in sliders
for the blacks there not many loacations in the game that really resemble africa or have the conditions for black people
we might see more diversion of npc in a patch or small expansion

I can see the concern over the accents, but when people start obsessing over the races in the game, I start laughing.

Especially when several main characters are black/asian.

The actor who played Tobias was John Rhys-Davies who, you are correct, did play one of the starring roles in Sliders. He's also had parts in Star Trek: Voyager, and a couple little-known movies like Indiana Jones (Sallah) and Lord of the Rings (Gimli). For more information on him, look here:
