What are your weapon pref''s - does the fire rate factor in?

Do you prefer 8.33 speed laser weapons, the higher damage but slower 4.0 rate weapons or what?

I'm not asking about Class level, I am asking about the speed factor preference.

What you do you like to outfit, or do you just get the highest class of the same type in all your weapon hardpoints and leave it at that?

Thanks

I prefer faster firing rate of laser.

I usually go for 4.0s, the perfect damage/fire balance for me. Kill a lot faster too.

My preference depends on my ship. If I'm in a nimble fighter, I'll use anything. If I'm in a freighter, I prefer a 5.88 or 8.33 weapon. Even the 4.00 works okay, but the 2.00 is just too slow for use against the nimble fighters.

I've bounced between weps and I find I prefer the heavy hitting but slowish firing weapons. Short range isn't a problem since even 550m isn't that far off when I hit my afterburners.

One combination I tried and abandoned was a switch over strategy where I used one wep group for shields (stunpulses) and then another for the hull (lavablades). Early in the game it works but later on (I'm only up to mission 10) it didn't seem to matter since later weapons chewed the shields up pretty quick anyway.

So it seems that most don't see an advantage to the 8.33 speed weapons over the 4.0 higher damage output ones (I think likely overall damage is same given that it's over time the faster ones rack up pt's).

I guess you can look at it as either faster = more chances to hit or more chances to miss, and same with slower where it's opportunities chance to hit but more damage per.

Thanks!!

I generally consider overall damage output per second.

All things equal, I lean towards a ROF of 4 or higher.

However, I didn't experiment briefly with several Rheinland pulse (?) weapons with a ROF of 2, and I could really abuse targets once I started hitting them

I prefer the 4.00's, usually i'll mix it up though with four Lvl 9 4.00's and two Lvl 10 2.00's. If im feeling sassy i'll swap out two of the 4.00's for some 8.33's.

The main thing I really pay attention to is projectile speed though. There's nothing worse than having the most grunty guns in Sirius when they move like a turtle with an opium addiction.

I don't really run this place but I have an understanding with the people who do.

if u look ath the avg dmg per 1.00, the slower firers get the bat, but they use MUCH more enrgy and slower projectile, shorter range... however i think thois is fine becasue at say 600m it is hard to hit your target anyway even with a fast moving projectile. so long as you dont just hold down and keep shooting, the enrgy recahrges ok.

i didnt kno turtle's did opium !

When I get my crosshair over the little red + and I hit fire, I want it to hurt THEN, and not require me to try and keep my aim true for seconds while those peashooters (8.33 RoF) tickle the target. Then again, too slow weapon and I seem to miss out on opportunities to shoot. So I prefer weapons with 4.00 or 3.03 rate. As I get to heavy ships, Salamanca Mk2 is a good choice.

Projectile speed is important of course, and is the reason (in addition to more energy drain) I haven't picked up a turret. For some reason, turret versions of just about any weapon fire faster than the gun version, and the targeting helper uses fastest projectile speed as reference, so usually it aims for your turret and your main weapons will miss.

I use the best of both worlds...

some guns with an 8.33 refire rate, and some with a 4.0 refire rate...

Sometimes, the ones with a 2.0 refire rate along with the mentioned above.

The last hard hitting ship I had was a Mule w/ 4 Baladriel turrets, 2 Skyrails, and 2 Matterthief MK-I's.

That thing really packed a punch!

depends on what sort of place im going, usually i will unmount my nomad weapons for a full set of weak 8.33's when i go to liberly or bretonia space, since its no fun taking out the whole wave of fighters before they even get near me

I prefer 4.00 refire rate, but sometimes I mix in faster guns just due to the amount of damage that can rack up in a small amount of time. And I really don't like slow guns as I tend to always miss at the critical moment. :-)

Don't think of it as being outnumbered. Think of it as having a larger target selection.

Well it maybe not really in context with the topic, but i'll ask anyway:

This Salamanca mk II, where can u buy it? I think I've seen salamanca mk 1 on sale in corsair bases, but mk2? Those are quite nice ow guns though, till i switched to the lv 9 - 10 guns

i was using 2.00 weapons with 700 range and lots of desructive power, early in the game , until i get lev 10 wep i used 8.33 wep. Right now i`m trying 3.03 wep lev 10 and works better, but maybe is because i don`t have power problems anymore(n**** weapons)
