hello again. Its a great program for making new systems I have some sugestions for your next update and a question(sorry).
suggestion:
1. Make a way to make new factions
2. Make a way to create ur own prefixes to the system ex. Li_01
question:
1. I really didn't get your read me on how to create jumpholes and gates basically no matter if I use right click or right click +shift it doesn't give me option to create a jumphole/gate. write back asap
-Sp/der

...Wuts ur take on the situation
u want the long version or the short version.
erm... long
your finished!
What was the short then?
bye.

@Hellcat - it sounds like you screwed up your system to me. Try reading through this thread.

@Sp/der - first off that is Shsan's readme not ours, we have not written one of our own yet. As for the jumphole thing for whatever reason you can only add jumpholes and jumpgates outside of editing mode. What this means is you just double click on the system and then right click where you want to place one.

OK then, I've finally found this bloody thread lol. right then. When I try and place a docking ring on a new planet (I'm creating a TC Mod called Freelancer: Rebirth, where each House is in one system, so Colorado, California, NY, Alsaka, and Texas are all-in-one) it crashes my PC and resets. It's starting to really piss me off and I could do with your inpout as to what could be the problem. I run:

P4 2.4 GHz
512 MB-RAM
GeForce MX440 128MB AGP Graphics Card
On-board sound and network (for LAN, whey!)
Windows 2000
Unmodded Freelancer (it crashed on me the other day when I tried to edit FL while a MOD was active lol)

Oh yeah, and how do you set-up where the damn person starts? I can't find it and when I load Freelancer up it crashes on me at the menu, grr!

Cheers,

Dale

Thanks HellCat

@CaRdAmInE - it crashes in FLEXP or when you try to run the game? Btw its not possible to combine some systems together because there is a limit to how many objects you can put in a system. The new york system for example is maxed out so you can't combine it with anything without radically removing a lot of objects.

@Hellcat - I am not the one to ask about specific system editing problems because I personally have only created 1 system and it was merely to figure out how FLEXP works.

Actually, you set the starting base in the files themselves, not in FLX. Just open up data\characters\newcharacter.ini and change the "base = Li01_01_Base" to the appropriate base. You can use Freelancer Exploerer to get the name of the base you want. Right click on the base you want to start at, and edit. On the bottom there's a spot that has the code for that base. To see what I mean, try it on Manhattan and you'll see "Li01_01_base" down there.

Edit: Wasn't clear as to which question I was answering, avoiding potential confusion.

When messing with start locations you will want to do more than edit the newcharacter.ini file you will also need to change the mpnewcharacter.fl files. If you need an example of how to make the changes then grab my New Start Concept project I released 3 months ago. For your project though it seems you plan on creating a singleplayer campaign so you will also have to learn the scripting functions for setting player location and ship.

There is a small fault with the latest FLEXP version. When assigning fog colour to nebulas, the box that is supposed to contain the colour vanishes, and the game crashes when I enter a system where I've tried to assign a fog colour. However, nebulas added in earlier versions of FLEXP do NOT crash the game when I enter the system. I've also tried editing a colour manually into the *.ini file, which produces the same results, can anyone explain whats going on?
