{Software} Freelancer Explorer - System Editor
Here you can find news, get help and comment about all the Mods and tools for Freelancer created by =EOA= Players Consortium, like the ?Freelancer SDK?, the ?Freelancer Explorer? and the ?Real Space Mod?
I was working one a mod of mine, "Ruhr system" and it kept crashing when I enter a jumpgate/hole to i. Naturally I neglected to back it up (funny how that works?) and when I ran the flserver console it said "ini block error in blahblahblah" for a DIFFERENT SYSTEM! What's an ini block, why does a problem with system B make system A crash?
I'm just a relative newbie to FL modding, but in my mod I've been working on, I've run into some specialized issues that I'd like FL Explorer to handle properly. This is just a wishlist, of course... what you have works very well for more people, in most situations
1. Please get patrol path editing working right. I'm sure that's the #1 issue for most folks here.
2. Please make it possible to edit the Y positions of objects, instead of just the x, z. In my mod, for example, relative height is *extremely* important, and I'd love to have an editor that understands that. Right now, I do all of my editing by hand, because using FL Explorer isn't satisfactory for this (no insult implied, guys, this is a nice tool if you're not doing weird stuff like I am).
3. When making the final version of the text, it needs to put line-breaks back into the file before every [ symbol. It's very confusing to look at the text without line-breaks.
4. When copying the settings from a given base to another base... it'd be super-sweet if it'd make a duplicated entry in mbases.ini that was correct down to the last Rumor. That would save a TON of time and painful hand-editing. I basically ended up hacking NY system for my mod, for example, because editing a new mbases.ini for my system was turning into such a royal pain in the rear...
5. It'd be nice to have a built-in tool for editing Rumor strings, setting the reward/difficulty for Missions.
6. I'd really love an Encounter editor that was less error-prone, which wasable to set up the appropriate strings for the arbitrary Faction placement (i.e., if I want Kusari Blood Dragons to show up in NY, it'd "get that",
7. Zone manipulation that made distinctions between types of Zone, such as Solar, Gate, Hole, Tradelane, Death, etc.
8. Last, but not least, in the current version under Windows XP SP2, trying to "delete all systems" results in a crash, every time. Please, fix this... it'd be a great boon for those of us who haven't quite figured out how to fix the ShortestLegalPath and other information (for example, mbases again), which causes constant crashes in FL if not properly edited...

What's a hell? I've download the last version of FLEX where you promised to fix bugs with desapearing of names of bases planets etc.....and what did I see? Inside zip archive eoaFLE-v1.10.26.3.zip i saw the same old version v1.10.26.1 No one file was updated all of the pack was 20.11.2003, all bugs stay the same and even Changelog.txt contains information from 20.11.2003. What could it be? Mistake of packagers? Some kind of joke? I loaded from here http://eoa.seriouszone.com/?page=flexp and here http://www.lancersreactor.com/t/downloa ... asp?id=977

2 Spacerock: Amigo all of you said about C:\Temp doesn't have any link with desapearing of names....All i can say that I did new systems with new names and it all still works fine but of cource i was manualy handle with DLL and it's quite annoying. All you have to do is make FLEX work with new dll for example emptyresource.dll. When it begin asking you about adding new dll to your mod it will save all the names and infos correctly. Of cource after that you need to write a pass to dll in freelancer.ini. The hell sing is that it do it some times but not every time you start editing your mod.
One good advise: try to make for example new system at ONCE. Save all the work as a -new- mod and make sure all names saved correctly ....after that the shouldn't be any troubles with desapearing of names and you could develop your mod further saving all the rest info in your own dll

"Careful the sum of all chances should not be greater then 100%". Question is: what that warning about? About each faction percent applied to encounter or both chances of encounters and factions applied to it in the area? Sory for my english i meaned for example:
area_scout 33%---->corsair faction(50%), outcasts(50%)
area_defend 100%-->corsair faction(50%), outcasts(50%)
so is that correct 33% and 100% in the same zone or it should not be greater then 100%?

@Madzmax - in response to your questions in order:
1. The naming problem was a registry error so the only change necessary was to the installer and it does work. If you are still having problems you need to verify again that you downloaded the correct file from our site.
2. The faction % chance is the one that cannot add up to more than 100%. The encounter type % chance will usually never get even close to 100%.
