also (sorry about all this text) when i did add in my system successfully it didnt load any of the strings (eg. planet names, trade lane names, jumphole/jumpgate names) i think this may be to do with the dll it creates, how can i fix this?

fangmans, is the program crashing if yes could you try to use DrWatson to send me a report about what could be causing that.
I have tried again to add a jumphole from your system to the kepler and i didn't had any problem.

Which version where you using ? I have made a change yesterday to prevent the screen from going black (you can fix that by changing the zoom : mouse wheel or +/- on the keypad ).
I really don't see what could cause all these troubles, but 128MB seems to be just, i think that my program is quite memory hungry at the moment and you'll probably need more since i am loading almost all the inis.
About the dll problem, check that there is the unicows.dll with the executables.

Hey shsan;

The program isn't crashing. When I try to add a gate or hole I get the MS System Error message ("send to Microsoft" or "don't send" and the prog ends.

I'll run it again and try to find out what it says caused it (system fault) and then send you the results.

Other than that, I'm going to make a new system to see if it is something in my mod that is causing the problem.

I'm running the XP home os so I don't think that is part of the prob.

fangmans, the MS System message is the new reaction to crashes from microsoft under XP, so the DrWatson is the good way to find what caused it

ok, ive just started to use the 2D editing software and im having a few problems. i wonder if someone could help me out?

im getting errors on start up pf the program they are:-

Cannot open
C:/programfiles/microsoftgames/freelancer/data/universe/systems/Br01/Br01.ini
cannot open C:/...Br02/Br02.ini
cannot open C:/...Br03/Br03.ini
cannot open C:/...Br04.Br04.ini
cannot open C:/...data/missions/mbases.ini
cannot open C:/...data/equipment/market_commodities.ini
cannot open C:/...data/equipment/market_misc.ini
cannot open C:/...data/equipment/market_ships.ini
cannot open C:/...data/universe/shortest_illegal_path.ini

after all these errors the program starts and i can look at the systems but i carnt edit the systems or create new ones.

si_kaye43, make sure that the paths in the FLE.INI are correct. the file is in the Windows directory.

I got another suggestion (if you havent already heard this)

Ability to change loadouts on a jumpgate. All I can use is Bretonia Turret loadouts.

Well thanks for that and ive checked the FLE.ini and all the paths link to files. but ive also noticed that the .ini's the program is looking for do not exist! so either they were never there or a mod that changed lots of .ini's has deleted them.

si_kaye43, if all these inis are missing from the game, i don't think that it will run very well The mbase.ini for example is necessary to the bases. So i can't see how the game could run without it.

If that many are missing , i suggest that you get the Original Inis package and reinstall all of them.

can you put in "autoload" where it automatically loads the mod you were using before? oh and can you make it so we can use the character's bodies and faces(trent, juni, etc) as characters in bars?

How many assholes do we have on this ship anyhow?

hi me again. i tried the prog on someone elses computer (running XP) and no matter what i did i couldnt replicate the error. also, the dll loaded. so whats wrong with mine & should i upgrade to XP?
perhaps it is also significant that he had never modded fl before (i tried this on a fresh install) so did i screw up my fl and have to reinstall it maybe?

ok i re-installed freelancer and the .ini's are back, so that problem is solved thanks for all the help. but... (there's always a but) i have another problem, i can run the program fine but every so often generally when im adding new jump holes the map goes black and then gray and i have to restart to get it to work again. can you help?

Just an Idea, like the line of bouys/weapon playforms you should be ablle to do the same with the half-built tradelanes and other things like that.

ok, I can choose the characters and edit them, but they won't appear in the bases or planets bars?
