Um this is just a remake of IGx89 FL Mod Manager, except this has alot of bugs. Every time I try and run a mod it crashes.

I commend you on your try but why remake what is already done and working?

I just saw on the main site you said you do NOT support WinXP. Why market your program when it doesn't work for probably 80% of the people here?

I do not mean to bash, but marketing your product and have it not work on a major platform was a bad idea. Not only does it get people peeved, you lose creditability. Why did you release when you know it doesn't work on xp?

Why not submit your graphics to IGx89 and you two work together on improving his instead of trying to compete.

I'd be more than willing to let you work with me, Wabbit. I don't have much experience in multi-colors/background graphics, and my image editor is MS Paint, so you could be a big help there . You could make the graphics and design the dialog arrangement (where controls, lists, text, etc... are placed), and I could put them in.
If you don't want to work with me, that's fine too

P.S. I'm curious, what's causing the incompatibility with WinXP? I thought only CD burning, anti-virus, disk management, and scanning software had problems with XP

I think you two would make a wonderful team

That would also make it so that every moder out there wont have to design there mods for two diffent loaders which would suck big time.

Post Tue Apr 01, 2003 1:30 am

yeah and that would make the XP problem go away fast (hopefully)

Post Tue Apr 01, 2003 5:16 am

That would make it non-existent, because I program on XP and also test on 98 SE

XP is gonna work in next ver. Gimme like 2 days.. But as for IGx89... That's a nice idea to implement some grpx in I'll surely help you if you want... Then MOD launcher was writed mainly to put a platform for DYNAMICAL MODS. I mean it. I hope to complete server linking, which will allow dynamical change of content in game. It could be used as NEWS CHANGER, DYNAMICAL CHANGE OF START LOCATIONS, DINAMICAL GALAXY EXPANDING and etc. This was requested by many players and moders. If you, IGx89, ready to work on that, i may give up So any suggestions? Ideas? Anything?

Hey, Reynen.
I'am going to test launcher on XP and figure out where is the problem.
So far, i can tell, that Babylon5 MOD is out of date. It will be updated
in next release 1 or 2 april. Orion MOD also has a bug: using Jump Gate
to Orion system crashes server. That problem i address to Orion Mod author.
I'am sure he'll work it out. Good luck!

So far, it was tested on Win98SE with FREELANCER installed in default folder and Flauncher installed in default folder ("??:\PROGRAM FILES\MICROSOFT GAMES\FREELANCER\MODS\" and it's work just 100% fine.
The problems create Orion MOD when using jump gate (crashes server). Please, report any information, which could be useful. Good Luck!
NB!!! -> In case your FREELANCER is installed in another folder and Flauncher doesn't work <possibly can't find location> delete "C:\FL.DAT" and restart Flauncher. It will ask you to enter address, when you start it again. (for v.0.2!)
Then you may run Self Test. And if it tells OK everywhere, but problem remains, email me to [email protected].

Another bug:
Freelancer server launching from Flauncher is not working properly. Please consider SERVER LAUNCH as usually through standart shell. I'll work on that.

Well, if you give me details on how you plan to implement all those dynamic features, I can add them into FLMM. Give me an e-mail, and we can work together on this

Post Tue Apr 01, 2003 5:24 pm

I, for one, would LOVE you 2 to work together.

FLMM works well, but is... well, ugly at best. FLauncher looks REALLY GOOD!

Good News:
Everything works fine on Win XP machines.
One tester reported Defender MOD crashed Flauncher with DLL problem.
But it seems to be not Flauncher error. As This MOD working fine on other machines...
Orion MOD seems to have a problem, which crashes FLserver. This
mistake should be corrected by MOD's author. By this time, just don't use jump gate.

Any bug reports? Still get NONE.
All problems with installation now are corrected in version 0.2b.

Good Luck! And make more great MODS

Post Tue Apr 01, 2003 8:03 pm

"ugly at best"? Since FLMM first came out a few weeks ago, I've been asking people for suggestions, and noone has said anything about it being ugly

Wabbit, want to help me with FLMM instead of working on another mod installer? Please tell me if you do; as Reynen said, it doesn't make sense to have multiple mod installers when only one is needed

Post Tue Apr 01, 2003 8:12 pm

Hey, IGx89, i'll surely help you. But still iam not going to give up launcher project . There are too many time of mine and my friends puted in it. We hope to make something bigger than launcher. That's the start. But I know, there will be no problem with using two managers at all. Choose. Why not? Good Luck and Respect, pal!

PS. Mail me, if you need any design work done for your project.

That is NOT a good attittude to take Wabbit. It is not as easy to simply choose if you are a modder. So we are suppose to CHOOSE on loader or the other and alienate the people who use the other loader?

I take it you are in business? Your corporate strategy to run out the competion and FORCE modders to write applicaitons for your program is sickening.

This is doing just the same as microsoft forcing practically every game maker to make games run only on Winows to FORCE people to use windows.

God I $#%#% hate it when thugs with corporate / business dominate strategy come into the gaming industry because they only think of themselves and **** on everyone else.

Sad thing is the beast often wins becuase decent people back down. Being the nice guy doesn't pay in this world. You kill or be killed. Well as a modder I will be forced to write my apps for both so I can maitain a reputable standing.

Hey wabb I want you to create a large mod for BOTH yours and IG's loader and see how you feel. It's doubling the work AND TIME, and that's somthing alot of us don't have.

EDIT - Looks like we have yet ANOTHER contestent on the mod loader field! Make that three now! ...
