hi guys, great tips on editing.

me and my brother recently found out how to "edit" freelancer .ini files.
we have been having great fun changing the ships and commodities the way we want them.
BUT, i changed the rhienland Valkyrie (my fav) so that its cargo hold was 125.
i CAN buy 125 cargo but i CANNOT loot 125 cargo from killed ships.
why is that?

i also found out how to modify the ships weapons capabilities.
as follows:

i copied and pasted the:

hp_type = hp_gun_special_1, HpWeapon01, HpWeapon02, HpWeapon03, HpWeapon04, HpWeapon05

then changed the "HP_GUN_SPECIAL_1" to "HP_GUN_SPECIAL_10" and the pasted it again and changed it to "HP_GUN_SPECIAL_9" and put them on top of "HP_GUN_SPECIAL_8" so the valk can now hold all guns up to level 10.

hope this helps with anyone who wants to make thier fav ship hold better weapons.

im new how do i make new ships i have searched for the .ini but they are a lot of 000'0011000100101011101010 get the picture i need help

download the FLSDK in the Download section... it is already an uncompressed version of ini files... also Download the FLMM - Freelancer Mod Manager...

for new ship model creation... you need the Milkshape 3D and the Freelancer Exporter for MS3D... why MS3D? cuz' it is the only 3D program that can export to FL format to date...

Ive been looking and searching for a while now for the answer to this question but no joy. But yes i could of overlooked it somewhere

Q: I want to change the liberty light fighter (patiot) that the police use to an eagle. (a server side mod.)

Ive seen it done on another server and was wondering if it was to much of a nightmare.

Great Info, thx, it helped. But i have one question. How do u set the price of a pre-made ship at a particular base? I've looked in every directory and i still cant find it! By the way, if its blindingly obvious, forgive me, I'm new to modding.

Hello. I've tried you tips but I must be doing something wrong because it doesn't work. I wanted to put tuns of gun mounts on the Bretonia Heavy Fighter, and make it have tons of cargo space, then it'd be worth buying. And by the way, I always use Rebalance 3.5 MOD, so I used that MOD's shiparch.ini, is this correct?

First of all, the part on the first page about editing the weapons was very confusing to me. The cargo was easy, changed that, and attempted to change the guns. Went to buy it at Battleship York, and it was the same as it's always been. Could some gaming-genius tell me how to chage this, or if you're feeling extremely nice, help a newbie by copy-pasting the Bret. Hvy Fighter info here to make it kick-@$$? Thanks for any help.

1. You should probably post this in a diff. forum.

2. To add more gun mounts you need to edit the model (.cmp) file.

And how do I edit the .cmp file? It says Windows does not recognize the file type to open it.

(BTW if you edit .cmp's then what's all this about .ini on the fromt page?)

I edited the .cmp with HardCMP Editor, or something like that, found on this site, but went to buy the ship and it was the same. I mean, what you "select ship" no more mounts were available that I had added. Do you have to start a new game for it to work?

No, you don't have to restart. What you do have to do is add the relevant Hardpoints into the ship's listing in shiparch.ini, or you won't be able to mount things on those Hardpoints (although you could put them on AI ships through Loadouts.ini, which bypasses this information, which could be handy for modders wanting the AI to have a gun/extra shield/whatever that players couldn't have).

Ahhh I see I see. Well I've tried before, the whole thing on the front page here kinda confused me (the guy wasn't that clear for a non-computer-editing guy like me) Anyway, when adding a gun, that's when you add on sideways......right? As in:

? Hope that question made sense. So the Vertical is the level the gun can be? Like in this model, the highest level gun the ship can have is Level 6? And Gun #1 can't suport a Level 6 gun? I've always been a bit confused on this. Thanks.

I need help!! I added so many guns to the .cmp of a ship. I went to the shiparch.ini and made all guns Level 10 and added all eleven guns there, like this, right??

hp_gun_special_10, HpWeapon01, HpWeapon02.....HpWeapon11

But I went to buy the ship but it is just messed up. There were originally 6 guns, 2 turrets, 2 torpedos. Now it has 4 guns, 1 turret, 4 torpedos. I must be doing something really wrong. I'm gonna pull my hair out!

I was reading to sections here on the Sabre, I know quite easy now how to activate the two harpoints for guns on the sabre's outside wing tips. By adding this code to the shiparch.ini
