I think everything that has to do with the loading of ini files are server side in MP. Only thing the clients can do is use memory hacks.

Unfortunately this is a very false assumption.

The MP Server and SP Game both use the same ini files.
And, the client always uses it's OWN ini files, NOT the servers!

So, if you alter your ini file for Manhattan to have a "Sabre" there, for lost cost, it will be there in ANY MP Server you log into...you can buy it at LEVEL ONE!

However, characters which do this CORRUPT the server and CRASH them!
And, the server STAYS CORRUPTED until that character is removed from what I have read.

So, remember when you are playing around with these files to change them back to default BEFORE joining any MP games!
(Unless of course you are an ass that likes to ruin other people's enjoyment. In which case I hope you burn in Hell. )

Hello all,

I got my copy of the game, and allready started moding....

I did everything you sed Dawn, and server console keep poping me that he cannot find d01_01_base. My eyes hurt since i scaned the code you send for 100 times and cannot find the mestake....

Can anyone explain critical references trough code of the star system/ planet, to the other files ....i mean how does system reference to station etc...

iv got another problem.. im in my system but i cant enter my base! once the docking sceen is over the screen turns black.. but the game hasen't frozen.. if i press F1 i get to si a picture of me docking into the station as a background for the menu!

Yes i had the same problem i made my own system and then when i tryed docking it showed the movie and thats it all went black
so i just copyed the rooms from a station in NY (Li01) and then in the base ini i changed the rooms path to my system folder, thats it and it worked
yet i have some question:

* how can i name a system, a jump gate and stations?

and for general info i host a server 24/7 and i changed my files to have the new system, and every time i jumped to the system and someone watched it or was on formation with me, his game crashed but not the server so i made a patch that install the neccery files for my system i suggest u do the same for ur servers

Ok, so I have implemented Dawn code in my ini files and everything works out just fine EXCEPT when I am about to dock with the station in the new system.
I see the docking animation and then the game CRASHED BOOM DEAD.

I run the server and the client on the same machine.
I have copyed over the ROOMS files from Li01_01 and I can't really find my problem.

I will continue to search for it. If anyone has any tips I will welcome that.

About naming the Stations and Jump Gates and stuff like that I think you have to modifie some resource.dll file or something. I have seen a post naming this on the forum. To bad they dont have a search function.

sounds like you wrote the name of your base in any ini file wrong. maybe the universe.ini or the ini of your ini. check the names!

i had the same problem once. have you changed the paths for your rooms?? and rename the rooms files (if you haven´t did it yet).

i dont know how you could fix your problem. just look at the inis once again and don´t fix on my how-to. just look if all of your names etc are correct.

I keep on getting an endless jump tunnel when I dock and try to jump to the new system. PLEASE HELP!!!! I can't find my problem anywhere! Any Suggestions??? Thanx..

Make sure you did change your jumpgate settings to the system name you entered (From DA01 to the System name you chose)

I left it all exactly the same ase the tut. said just to see if I could get it to work. The only thing I change in the whole thing was the position just like it said. I don't understand. Man this sux! I want my own system

I did everything right from the tut,

Now my server is swalowing the ini of my new system...but i cannot find the jumpgate...

In this same thread there are talks that it is in close to California Jumpgate and others say near Colorado...

I searched both locations and still cannot find my jumpoint...

Please *sigh* can someone be specific where by the tut is the jumpoint..

I am having the same problem. I cannot find the jumpgate that will supposedly take me to the "new" system.

i made your tutorial but the game crashes when i tries to start it... why does this happen?? can u send me all the text files u got so this will be done right...
im not sure im doing right...

my .ini files are in completely mess and i dont know where to paste the things u say... can u please send me all the files u got for ur system and ill try if they work?
