Ragnar: I can't offer anything new in the way of advice, really. Wether factions are hostile, neutral, or friendly towards each other is controlled by initialworld.ini - no exceptions. I don't see how that could vary from machine to machine... if it works on mine, it has to on yours.

Setting up three-way battles shouldn't be a problem - what do you mean by "no success"?


Is there anyway to make the fighters better at killing cap ships and vice versa?


Yes. NPC fighters carry loadouts, and it isn't difficult to refit those with, say, Skyblast B's. To beef up capships, edit their turret data (in weapon_equip.ini).

What I mean is that the two houses fight Corsiars but not each other.
So I moved them to an empty area of space and they did not fire.

I did change all of the pertinant values in empathy.ini.

You mentioned initial world - what can I change there?

Hey Nephilim i'll try the initial worlds this evening but does the faction rep changes work mid way into a single player game

Empathy.ini has nothing to do with the way each faction reacts to each other. It deals with how each faction reacts when YOU do something, like destroy an enemy ship, complete a mission, or attack a friendly.

Ok,
i have downloaded the Battleship Encounter Mod from Vindicator. But now there isn't any ship in Liberty!? It seems that all Encounters are crashed.
Any ideas for a solution?

Encounters of Liberty warships usually crash. Interesting is that in other countries it works well, so try there. I think formation of a Dreadnought and four cruiser is too big, when flies only one cruiser, it is working well, so get to wordpad and edit capitalships_liberty.ini, there is solution.

There's one thing missing from this topic. Comments! Has someone compiled a tutorial that's commented out for each line? That's what I'd like to see. I saw d19 a lot in the template, but still don't know what it means. Does anyone know a link that'll point me to what I'm looking for?

This code has SO much potential for coolness, but these seeminly random crashes are EXTREMLEY frustrating. Thanks for any help, I know you are swamped.

I've been toying with the idea of totally revamping the tutorial... to condense all information contained in this thread (and the data I've gathered since writing it) into a -hopefully- more accurate and comprehensive guide, but given all the prefab encounter mods that have been released in the past five months and the number of knowledgeable people who contributed to them (like Reynen, giskard, Wanderer, bakedpotato, Chips, etc), I'm not sure if there's still a viable market for one.

shasla: you forgot to append ".ini" to your filename declarations, ie. filename = missions\encounters\capitalships_Kusari.ini

Crashes are almost always caused by illegal or conflicting parameters... FL isn't very forgiving, so double-check everything you do.
