The place to ask for technical help with running the demo or the full game...

I Think 3D Sound because my system doesn´t restart it crashes and a system restarts if the core volt is to low

Omg, unchecking 3d Sound fixed the issue!

Great post MiniMizerm, and good find! The only thing I'd have to add is try geating down the hardware acceloration...se if that help. That and make sure background aplications are not running, and turn off the wallpaper on the desktop.

If it helps, then try to turn some things back up/on one at a time and see where you target settings are.

Similar problems on similar posts. I had this problem and with other games, dont blame microsoft or digital anvil. I would check out your bios and your current settings. Try optimizing your bios and see if that works, from what i understand is that this is due to a memory overwriting somewhere. Slow everything down and go from there, try clocking your ram at 133 and not 166, this fixed mine.

No problem guys.

I suspect it may be restricted to users with AC97 onboard sound.

Would be nice to know if anyone experiencing this problem is NOT using AC97 sound chip.

I have virtualy same mobo/cpu/gfx/mem as a friend who had this problem, yet I have NEVER had Freelancer crash.
Both have GF4 Ti4200 cards
Both have MSI mobo with onboard AC97 sound
Both have same XP2100 cpu
I have 512Mb of PC2700 he has 256.

AC97 sound chip has givem me problems b4, not with games crashing but with jumpy, stuttery sound. Splinter Cell is good for this, 1 sec with sound 1 sec with no sound and so on.

Gonna pick up a cheap 5.1 soundcard at next PC fair I go to see if that fixes things.

The only problem I have is a slightly jumpy mouse cursor sometimes, usualy when in a big fight or using the menus.

Bambi.
