System Reboot Trying To Pass Any Of Jump Gates

Well, I've just got the full version of Freelancer. I just started to like it, but...
...I there is a strange thing happening to my system every time I'am going to pass through any Jump Gate: My PC symply goes to REBOOT! Yep! Try to imagine:
1. You're docking with any of Jump Gates;
2. In game graphic shows your ship flying through the Jump Gate
3. Ooops! There comes PC-reboot!!!
4. After rebootin' and scandisk checking, I run the game again!
5. In-Game Menu I'am choosing LOAD-AUTOSAVE
6. FINALLY I HAVE AUTOSAVE THAT IS CREATED AFTER PASSING THROUGH THE JUMP GATE!!!! WHHATTA F****?????!!!! IT's pissing me off every time to get this kinda stuff?????

I don't have no sound or/and video problems with Freelancer at all.

Please, anyone who has/had anything like this before, let me know how to fix it!
Thank YOU!!!

P.S. My PC config is:
ATI Radeon 9700 Powercolor
512 MB PC2700 Kingston
845GE Max MS-6580 V2.0 MSI Mainboard
On-board sound Realtek-650
80GB 7200 HDD Maxtor
WINXP sp1 Integrated

P.P.S Every single game, exept FREELANCER, runs PERFECT!!!!

I think the game writes out a debug file that you could look at.

\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application Data\Freelancer\FLspew.txt

note: some of those folders are hidden, so you may have to disable the Windows folder option that hides them from you.

There may be a clue in there about what's going wrong?

I got the same problem last night for the first time. I'm at level 9 and i'm ready to go to planet Cambridge to see Jun'ko Zane (for the next mission)... I simple enter the space gate and when i'm ready to leave in the new system the game crash and simply boot my computer. I don't think it's a computer problem because the game has run ok until this point. And my Autosave is BEFORE i enter it and not AFTER It's very strange

My friend has the same problem, his pc restarts on system gate jumps, not every one, more like 1 in 5 jumps.
He has almost an identical system to mine, as I built it for him...
XP2100
GF4 Ti4200
256Mb 333MHz Ram
etc..

Gonna try to take a look at his PC this weekend hopefuly, as he is not the most technicaly minded person I know ;-)

The only thing I can think taght his difefrent on his machine and mine is I have newer vga drivers than him and more memory.
I am inclined to blame DX9, as he has had a few similar problems with other games locking up and resatrting PC sionce installing freelancer and DX9.

I have not heard anything REALY GOOD about DX9 since it was released, just people with problems.

Heh, this reminds me of a similar 'bug' that hit alot of people who played Egosoft's X-Tension.

The problem was, the game was CRC-checking itself, scanning for changes to the copy-protection regions.

Hit a jump gate and *BOOM*.

Quite cunning really. Reminds me again of an even more cunning anti piracy scheme on the Amiga for Directory Opus. It renamed EVERY SINGLE FILE AND DIRECTORY on your hard disk to something like "---->>> PIRACY SUCKS <<<---".

LOL.

Hmmmm... I’m using XP and i also have a GF4 Ti4200 and i have 256Mb 333MHz Ram Could be a DX9 problem but is very strange that it crashes in that point. I could go back and see if i have other crash problems on different gates or if this is the only one.

Post Wed Mar 05, 2003 1:59 pm

would be great if we could localize the nasty problem i get tired of bluescreens

I have the same problem, system reboots on every single jump gate.
I have a Radeon 9500 Pro on a Gigabyte GA-7VAX board, so I do believe this is a game bug and hopefully we will all be seeing a fix from Microsoft soon enough

Try this.

I had the same problem.

I made two changes which seems to have resolved this but I haven't gone back
to check which one actually fixed it.

1. Disabled 3D sound from the check box.
2. Increased CPU core voltage by 0.25v

Really I should put one setting back to see which one resolved this problem.

Bazz.
