Text problems also!

Hi guys and girls, just joined, nice forum you've got going!

I need some help with Freelancer as the text has suddenly altered size for no apparent reason. The text is unfeasibly large and sometimes cannot fit properly inside their buttons! This is more annoying then it sounds!

Any help would we very good!

I believe the oversized text problem is easily sorted out by copying the three fl fonts into your windows fonts folder.

There's a useful sticky for this problem.

Yep Orin is right, thats how i did it lol! Just follow the guide, I simply downloaded the fonts and its all gravy baby....

I tried the font idea on my sister's computer but, the text is still way too large and it bounces all over the place as well
any other ideas that might help?
she has a new computer so there is no older video card driver to fall back on

@merlinthewizard: Install the latest driver from your graphics card(etc.)'s manufacturer. Worked for me.

guess I'll have to wait awhile then, seems the card is too new and has no new updates on the website for it yet
guess I'll just have to keep checking the site until they come up with an update

If It's that new of a card then fl might be having compatability issues.

Hey has anyone had the problem of this.........
When attemting to connect to a MP game, instead of seeing an IP address, you get some kinda garbled up MAC address? This is happening to me. No idea why.

It's not wrong if you dont get cought....

I finally found a game driver update for my sister's video card
it's a newer intel card, on't remember the exact model number
it seems to help somewhat but, it's not perfect
the main menus show up fine now but, the map and the mission menu still have trouble unless you hold the cursor over one of the selectable items

much better then before, would still like to fix what little is still wrong though

If it's Intel integrated video, I have a mobo with an "Intel Graphics Accelerator" chipset (it's an i865G board) and the fonts look a little funny on it compared to normal Freelancer. I've just written it off to Intel's drivers and chipsets being so-so for Freelancer.

Let me guess, your graphics card is a 945GM? Mine is that way, and I can't figure out how to fix it.

BTW, merlin, could you post the website you got the driver from? It may help my problem.

My laptop uses a 945GM chipset, and the text looks perfect... might be another factor. I'm using XP media edition...
