well there is a unofficial patch 1.4 right? well i downloaded it here from lancers reactors, then u put that patch into FLMM (which is version 1.31) u activate it, done. Or can u play on the servers with version 1.0, then there is no problem, except i cant get a server list. Im not using any mods.

Yo dudes, I'm a bit new here and not much of a computer wiz... I might not even have much of a problem compared to what I've read so far, but what I do know is, I'm not running any mods, i've cleanly installed the game (a couple of times) I've cleared ports for freelancer in Windows Firewall and shutdown the rest whilst playing, hell I don't even play on the internet, I just want a nice friendly game with LAN at home with my friends. Whenever I or any of my friends make a server, -reading from the consol veiw- It fails to connect to listserver. Now, I don't even know what a list server is!@! Any help available?
Final
I think I answered (or tried to ) this in another post.
List server is the global server, not important for what you need.
One of the biggest problems I had with running over lan was the lan using tcp/ip ver 6. (u can host using a vista machine but any clients must have XP (if you get client to work in vista ur doin better than me) if ur hosting on a vista machine u may be able to leave tcp/ip 6 on not 100% sure (I can test if need be)
Ok on XP go to CTRL panel, Network connections, right click lan and go to properties, scroll down until you see TCP/IP 6, uncheck this box. (leave tcp/ip 4 checked) now I only used this to host and play from 1 machine, not sure if host and or client needed this but one or both do.

There is another exception that must be set up in the Firewall, it's not obvious unfortunately...

Call your technical support line, or if you feel like a brave hardy soul, try seeing what your gateway is. On my Linksys router it's 192.168.1.1 , which means I go http://192.168.1.1 and enter the required administrative username and password.
These IP blocks are the ones for which your gateway will be your router or modem:
* 10.0.0.0 through 10.255.255.255
* 172.16.0.0 through 172.31.255.255
* 192.168.0.0 through 192.168.255.255
(So for example, if your gateway is, say, 142.58.something.something, don't http:// to it, it's not your DSL/cable modem because the address is NOT within those IP-blocks)
