Global Servers Are Moving

Want help in running a persistent server? Want to setup a gaming session? Look no further!

Post Tue Feb 18, 2003 7:51 pm

BTW guys, to join a server by IP can be done much easier, there is a file called

fldirectip.hta

in your \Freelancer\Exe\ dir, run it a window will popup and you can input the <ip>:<port> and click add server, or launch freelancer to just join that IP

For those folks that are having trouble connecting to Elite (and we are looking into the problem), please try an alternate server that has been setup, E2.

The current IP address is: 4.65.241.222, and the server is running on port 2302. The hardware is very close to Elite, and should be a great server to play on.

Please check it out and let us know!

update to connecting to TLR server:

freelancer.exe -s67.39.67 .197:2304

Thanks

That one I can connect to. YAY!!!
What is the expected maximum for that server?

Post Thu Feb 20, 2003 3:24 am

Maximum connections are uncertain at this point, but compared to Elite's performance and the similar hardware (CPU being the bottleneck), I would suspect 20-30 would not be impossible.

Everyone jump on and let's find out!

Good.

I don't know if this helps at all but when I trace the IP of the Elite server I get this chain of events. Best described in a picture.

This isn't originating from my machine but from a test server in Canada I think. I used http://www.network-tools.com to perform the trace.

Just thought it might help track down the problem.

What happened to the TLR server? I was connecting to it manually, then it dissappeared? Server crash?

Post Thu Feb 20, 2003 5:11 am

The TLR IP has changed. To connect, use:

freelancer.exe -s67.39.67.197:2302

Post Thu Feb 20, 2003 5:19 am

well, I wouldn't call it a bonefide server crash. :0)

I posted the IP earlier, here it is again (I think I had the port wrong)

To connect to TLR server: freelancer.exe -s67.39.67.197:2302
To connect to E2 (Elite 2): freelancer.exe -s4.65.241.222:2302
To connect to Elite server: freelancer.exe -s131.107.83.10:2302

I just tried all three and they all work. Good hunting! If I have any more "accidents", I'll just update this post.

Thanks Stinger! TLR is the best server so far for me. Never see the evil yellow lag box! Now just need more ppl on it, lol. You might wanna start a new thread to let ppl know you have a new IP tho!

In order to get around some problems with router issues on the Elite server, the port the server will be running on will be changed. This will be a temporary test, unless everything works well, and then the server will continue to use the new port.

Starting at 23:30 PST, Elite will be using port 992 instead of 2302.

(Yes, this is the port normally used for telnet over SSL, but as we are not using this service on the server, and the routers let it through w/o problems, we are going to give it a try)

To connect, for now, until the list servers are back up, use:
freelancer.exe -S131.107.83.10:992

If you have any problems connecting, or experience problems while playing, please try one of these other servers, and please send a mail to [email protected] with the details of your problems with Elite:

TLR: freelancer.exe -s67.39.67.197:2302
E2: freelancer.exe -s4.65.241.222:2302
Myths & Legends: freelancer.exe -s64.218.97.97:2302

Thanks

Hmm, I'm having some problems here (using XP pro if that has anything to do with it). I can't use a command line or edit the shortcut to put the IP:port info in, but I can use fldirectip to connect. However, it isn't saving the servers on my list from one session to another, and there is no button on the server list to "add server IP" (which I assume would call fldirectip)

Is this just a limitation of the marketing beta, or a bug?

Global servers appear to be back up as of today at 3:10 PM EST.

hmmmm, I'm still not seeing anything. Lemme try a few things in case it is my end.

Woohoo, I get a ping on Elite now. No more "No response" bs!
