We have zero "ghost accounts," that's one reason why Elite is so clean. We use the sweeper daily. Any MP accounts without characters created are deleted. Those bog down the server.

Does anyone have any idea how bad it would be for everyone if we unbanned everyone and didn't maintain the server like we do now? There's a price to pay to a keeping a server clean. The alternative is worse....much much worse. If it seems like we're taking the high road here it's because we've been at this longer than any other server out there and we know what works, and what doesn't. We've always considered the community FIRST, not the individual (contrary to popular belief at least in this thread). The server admin is exactly like the moderator status I have here. It's was giveth and it can be taketh away if the owner of either the Elite server or this website thought I was getting out of line.

At least I'm responding. If this continues into a flame war, I'll be left with no alternative but to put to take off my admin hat, put on my moderator hat and do my job here too. It's a thankless job (both) but someone has to do it. I know full well what "power" can do to ones perspective too. I've got the experience and maturity to handle that responsibility with respect.

EDIT: @cams, we have unbanned people from time to time. It's still very rare since most have simply ignored the server Rulez. Your's was a special case granted (not directly against server RuleZ), but you were asked and warned on more than one occasion to change the way you communicated with others, which you ignored completely. That was your choice. How many chances did you think you had?

hey elite is too serious i tried going there but found it too depressing almost
NO-ONE has a decent non-overly violent sense of humour there (well out of the people i saw) and i got dock raped by a L72 eagle

Stinger have you ever thought of what it does to the people you ban for no good resone(ahmm). I had friends on that server who I was suppose to meet that day. Looks like case of you I am never going to meet them again. I know all about how to keep a server clean. I have one my self. I made it before what happened. You can't just flat out ban people. Ever thought about a warning system? Its quit easy really it is. You should go look into it.

I've been playing FL since it was released here in Australia. I've played on heaps of servers, and I mean heaps, in search of two things - PING and COMMUNITY.

On some servers the admins take no interest in either - Alpha Centauri 2 for example. With the rise in the modding trend, AC2 has gone doooowwwwnnn on my list of decent servers. Combined with the mentality of people who use mods on non-modded servers (the definition of a cheat, right?) AC2 just ain't worth it.
I sent an e-mail to the admin there - Matt - when I lost my acct id due to home PC probs. Guess what? No reply. Shows how much he cares, and how much of an active role he plays in the community there.

On others the server takes a very active interest - like Browclops. Keeps the server clean, bans the cheaters, runs events, logs in himself and socialises. One night the global server was down; I e-mailed Brow to attempt a remote log in directly via the IP,and guess what? Not only did he reply, he told me how to do it, and responded to the other e-mails I sent soon after as I tried to troubleshoot my way through the process (I'm not exactly a system support dude - I learn more everyday though).

Now I play on Elite. Why? Browclops is closing down, and Elite is a terrific server. It's well maintained, has a thriving community, Stinger (even though I haven't contacted him directly) obviously plays an active role as part of that community - and the server even has deputys. Cheaters get kicked, quite a few of the people on the server can spell and have developed social skills, and there is a neutral zone in Manhattan that is enforced.

Stinger, you do a wonderful job mate.

Slake you would think so, but you don't really know how he acts. It seems like he's doing a ok job, but when you mess up he gives no chanes. He has ban people for just having a fast duel so he thinks there cheating. I have read alot of what he has done. I'm not tring to get him in troble, but just have a more open mind . lIke here is one unban me and the others who didn't deserve to be ban and I will stop with my attacks

"I will stop my attacks?" what are you, a terrorist? 4300 accounts on Elite, and you're so special that you think you have the right to appeal your case? read again your locked thread. EVERYBODY agreed that you cheated and that the decision to ban you was not only just, it was demanded. Btw, your "attacks"? Stinger is aware of it but he's deliberately ignoring you. You are that insignificant. I'm speaking to you right now just to spare you some RSI from typing too much of your attacks. Even if Stinger is bothered at all by your flaming, he will not surrender to blackmail. He can't afford to - if he did, the next cheater only needs to flame his way to get unbanned.

Well, you know who i am stinger never hidden it.

Wardragon.. well he is ostracized on elite due to N reasons, but not for cheating, and he was banned 1ºst for using the weapons hack wich is now known as a bug and now he was banned for allegely cloaking mod.


Hiding? yeah sure you give us no alternative other than to be on elite undercover, relax we never cheat, and no you cant find us, at least me. And this time please dont ban everyone accused being me (like you did to givemeupthegoods) some months ago.

Errrrrrr no, warblaze thats not the way; one thing is exposing some things that might go wrong, the other is killing entertainment just because you are not satisfied.

Banning someone for creating an account but not getting round to using it?? Yeah, great job. Anyway, it doesn't matter anymore. Elite is for cheats.

1. Except you ban selectively. You ban people for petty crap, but allow the NEO's to cheat, dock rape, profane peoples mothers, etc., etc., etc.........

2. You've been at it longer....that's right! As a matter of fact, you've been at it since quite a while before the game was released! And so have the NEO's. IE: Elite is a WAREZ server and I know you have banned people for playing with the warez version (but not the NEO warez monkeys, oh no!) of the game too! Hypocrisy at it's finest. GG!

Get your facts straight. Stinger was a beta-tester. That's how he managed to test the beta version of FL multiplayer, although only exclusively for other beta players. After the public release, Elite upgraded to the official version. That's what roughly happened.
