Multi or Single?

Hello

I have completed the Single-player twice. But after the plot missions, I don't really want to play it anymore. So, I have been wondering if I should play it in Multi-player. But I find it hard to find the energy, I need to explore the Univers again.
I'm not sure if I wrote this in the right forum. But please, bear over with me.
Anybody have some advice?

You dont play the single player story online. You basically trade and fight. There are missions to do, but only for making money and gain a good reputation with factions.

So if that isnt what you want then dont play online, but this game comes alive online. The AI is crap so adding human actions in fighting/trading making it a more telling experience.

after all the CRAP i've read in these forums -- clan wars, players bickering with one another, cheating, server crashes, the buggy patch that promises to make the game worse, lack of community, lack of support from DA, clan members with superiority complexes(Apocalypse), players with mental illnesses that think they're the best(WarDragon), idiots that think they can invade another server and place tolls on systems(OWL, cams), ect., ect., ECT., ECT., ECT.

The list goes on, and the end result: I've decided i'll stick to single player indefinately. i do not see myself playing this game online what with the crap i've seen here in just the Multiplayer Forum. quite the effective deterrent, don't you think?

You’re letting fear dictate your actions. On line play is safe and fun. I have had only minor brushes with other players and have never been killed by anyone. You make many more friends than enemies. In fact you have to work to make enemies. You are reading only the few negative things posted here and basing your opinion on that. You are denying yourself a very interactive experience on a very friendly server. I am almost to level 50 and I have killed only one other person in the only duel I have fought on this server.

For me, SP is just too boring. In MP, you can interact with other players, from total newbies to old hands. The Clans generally stick to certain systems, and most will leave you alone. Their wars, taunts, and accusations add to the background flavor of the game and for the most part, I like that. It is the players in lvl 10 ships attacking newbies on cargo runs which can be irriating. However, these are for the most part a minority. And if you get killed by one, write down their name, warn other players, and seek them out later with a better ship! PvP is part of the MP expierence. It sucks when you get killed with a full load of cargo, but it is lot of fun turning the tables on them.

You can play on server which do not allow PvP, but that gets old after awhile, no risk, no danger, no real fun. For PvP servers, I would just avoid servers which do not have any rules about no PvP in Manhattan or Liberty space. Tried a few the other day when Elite was full and Seattle was down, and within minutes, was killed in my little starflier by lvl 10 ship players camping in Manhattan on two different servers. One was San Diego and cannot remember the other one. Getting started on those systems is a bit difficult. So, try MP, read these forums for advise and tips, and enjoy. There are a lot of interesting players out there to interact with, so have fun.

I fully agree with Panzer...

Thanks for all the replies, guys (:
I've come to the conclusion that I'll start playing the MP. Thanks for convincing me.
Now, I just have one more question: Since you can't convert your characters to other MP games it's good to find a game with great ping and good players. Do you know any really good servers? I've heard some talk about a server called Elite, but when I tried to join a server called something-Elite, it was full. An hour later, same. So, are there any other good servers?
Hey, Zoph! Nice to see you. Hope we'll meet in a game some time. (:

Well, thanks.
But why do you ask if I'm left-handed?

::: EDIT :::
My brother just enlightened me; you are talking about the smilies, right? No, I'm right-handed. But my brother is left-handed. I must've seen my brother do it, and copied his "moves".

Don't come crying back to this forum complaining about that Level 38 dude with the fully decked out Sabre with Nomad weapons that creams you the moment you take off from Manhattan in a Starflier. Face it, MP ain't worth the trouble people give you when you try getting started.

Dude, you are afraid of your own shadow. Come play on Elite. Liberty space is off limits to PvP. You can level up safely. When your ready you can call me or any number of other people to ride shotgun while you go buy a real ship. I have never been killed on Elite by another player, nor have I been tolled. No one comes here and posts all the positive things that go on because it doesn't make good reading. We are having a blast while you are hiding in fear. Join the fun. You already have a host of friends on the server. If your my friend you already are in good with a bazillion other people.

...no thanks. If i feel like playing anything online, I'll stick to the one game i enjoy most online, where the playing field is even for all players, except for skill: MOH:AA.

Elite was the first server I started playing on and I knew nothing about the PK policy. Nobody attacked me in Liberty, but the moment I stepped into Magellan in my Defender... whoo boy.

My character's bar story...
...So here I am, trying to make a run to Bretonia to buy myself a Crusader heavy fighter, and this guy, MoneyMaker, in a tricked out Hammerhead, parks himself by the trade lade and fires one shot at me. One shot. And BOOM! There goes my left wing. And I'm on fire. So I jet back to Freeport 4, repair, and see that he's still there. Now might be a good time for a nap...

For the most part, however, high-level players seem to have better things to do than park themselves on trade lanes or hunt down newbies. I don't relish the thought of trying to buy an Eagle at Freeport 9, however...

All right, Corsair... You've got 4 Nomad Energy Cannons, 2 Cannonball Missiles and a Sunslayer Torpedo aimed at your cockpit...What do you do? What do you do?[!

Alright...
Elite is really good, eh? I'll try joining later this evening. I Hope I can join this time

::: EDIT :::
I just noticed that Elite s password protected. it must have been a wrong server I tried to join before, I guess... Can somebody tell me the password?
