We'd never do anything to eliminate people being able to log into this server with a 56k modem. That would be so wrong on many levels.

On some games it is warrented...I was a broadband snob for many years when I had DSL. But this game seems to play fine on dial-up.

and people complain about blizzard, everytime you build a char you are at risk of the server just going down out of sight after hrs and hrs of getting to rank-38 titan whatever=/

da should have taken control from the start and created a user db...I'm tired of playing on other peoples pos home box's=/ if your going to serv at least build a decent rig...LAF

6 in one hand, half dozen in the other....

The programmers made the game so easy to mod...that everybody and thier borther are modding it.

I feel everyone's pain about losing all thier characters....But if people would not cheat when MPing...or run mods not specically OK'ed by the Server host...Elite wouldn't be going down (I'm not on the Elite Server...But I understand)

Need to start a campaign to pester MS about fixing the FLserver so that we HAVE the tools we need to check for these modders and cheaters.

Good to hear! Elite is probably the only truely good server I've seen, but it was getting "unplayable" with all the crashing and cheating. Yesterday I had a guy in a Banshee drop a single mine that did 10,000+ damage and destroyed my Eagle in 1 hit.

I don't mind having to rebuilding my character at all if it makes the server better.

I'm kinda relieved that the server was cleared before I started, but I'm also sorry for those legitimate players who lost their profiles.

I really need to ask...how exactly will the password protection reduce cheating/MODing? I noticed that the password was included with the announcement, so anyone who sees the post can join.

On the other hand, the cheaters would be aware that their profiles could be lost, if the instability problem surfaces again. So maybe that could discourage some of them...or at least make them use another server. Anyway, I hope it works!

The password will stop the random server hopping smacktard from getting in. That's probably 90% of the attempts made. It will make it easier for those that have been playing there to get in and and make it a better community all around in the server.

The Elite server has more than enough clients to keep it full already. The password will stop the casual drifters that play for a few hours never to return and "cheat testers" from popping in to try out the latest hack.
