Is the race ticking you off too???? *spoiler*

If you are stuck in a mission and do not know how to continue, this is the place to ask for help. Missing that elusive Level 10 Shield? Don''t know where to find the lost Ohtori ship? This is the only place where spoilers are allowed!

So, OK where do I find one of those decompressors? I checked a couple from CNET but none of them seemed to work.

It is on this site. Look under the editing forum.

For a time I thought my ancient reflexes would stump me too, but i cracked it on the 6th or so attempt.

The trick is, as others have said, be hitting your cruise drive and burners the instant the count-down ends. Also, look ahead to the next ring and cut inside the turn of your opponent, like F1 drivers over-tking on the inside.

At the end it gets tricky, with a steep turn for one ring and his mates shooting at you if you're winning but finishing it was a great rush, sending me to work happy.

first try here, too. I was behind him for most of the race, but then he screwed (as always) and I won; though I woulda liked to have kicked his ass for firing on me...that son of a..

I tried it in that light fighter sold there. I just couldn't do it. Like I said, I'm too old and slow.

I did it with the Heavy fighter. But I had loads of practivce flying ring courses in X-Wing and tachyon.
Shift w right at the start.
The trick is to look ahead to the next ring before you enter the ring you are at, and try to cut the corners. Use your strafe keys to make very sharp turns.
He will stay ahead of you for 2/3 of the mission then you should overtake him.
I am gonna go back and try the ramming thing.

Alot of people (me included) thought or think F2 and Shift -w do the same thing. For all intents and purposes they do (in mouse free flight). However, your ability to fly your ship is very different. With F2 (goto function) in mouse free flight you are constantly fighting the autopilot (i.e. drifting, drastic heading changes, and altitude changes). With shift - W you will find your ship is almost too easy to manouver through the rings.
I must admit that I personally spent about 20 trys to do the race. 19 with F2 and one with Shift - W. I even tried to formation with dexter to get through the damn hoops (didn't even come close to working). So this is to all who were smart and used Shift - W on the first try: we are not stupid or crummy pilots, we just do things the hard way.

you do things the hard way..even when you get frustrated and are trying over and over? I'd say that makes you pretty stupid no, I'm sorry; really, I didn't mean that.
