And 'rot' means 'red', so 'Roter Blitz' is 'Red Lightning'.

But I have not been able to make any sense whatsoever of 'Natterturn'. The 'Natter' portion clearly sounds German and means 'adder' (the snake, not a device that adds which would be 'Addierer'). But the 'turn' portion does not fit at all. There is no word 'turn' in the German language, and the closest to this are the verb 'turnen' (to do gymnastics/calisthenics) and its derivations, but they don't fit.

Hmm, that's pretty interesting. "Red Ligtning" would make sense since the weapon discharge is red, but what would Natter Zwei mean?

Some additional info on the "German" weapons in FL:

Luger:
Georg Luger (1849 - 1923) invented in the first years of the 20th century the "Luger-Pistole" and defined in 1901 the 7.65mm Standard-ammunition ("Parabellum)

Hornviper:
1. Snake (vipera ammodytes) in Southern Europe, biggest venemous snake in Austria
2. Snake (4 sub-species of cerastes cerastes) in Africa, possibly deadly venomous

Kraken:
"Krake" in German means "octopus"

Natter:
yes, it's a (non venenous) snake (adder).
More interesting: The "Natter" was a "rocket-plane", invented by Erich Bachem who cooperated with Wernher von Braun in Nazi-Germany. The "Bachem Natter" started like a rocket and was flown later by a pilot. For the first time, a "Bachem Natter" took off in February 1945, the pilot (Oberstleutnant Siebert) was killed. Historically, this was the FIRST launch of a manned missile/rocket EVER.

It's not a name, but (probably) an error: the translation for "turret" in German is
"Turm" in the sense of "Waffen-Turm, Geschütz-Turm" (weapon-...)

I do not know exactly if the names are used in FL in this sense :
"pyros" is Ancient Greek and means fire (e.g. pyromania, pyrotechnic);

dragoon is
1. an "On-Horse-Soldier" (cavalry)
2. the nick-name of a weapon produced 1848 - 1860 by Samuel Colt. This "revolver" (GB; 'gun' in US) was the standard weapon for cavalry (designed to be shot by left hand ! In the right hand, the dragoons hold saber/sword/scimitar - whatever). The Dragoon-Colt was heavy (1850g), after 1860 Colt produced the so-called "Baby Dragoon".
