@DragonBreath
I'm not sure if I catch your question:
Samuel Colt (19.7.1814 - 10.1.1862) was not the inventor but the producer of the famous revolver. In the 1830's he got the first international patents for that type of gun known as "Colts". 1836 he founded the "Colt Patent Arms Manufacturing Company" in Paterson, New Jersey. That's why the first Colt-revolver was called "Paterson". In 1842 that Company fell into bankruptcy. During the american-mexican war 1845 - 47 the "Yankees" needed heavier weapons than the Paterson; so they asked Colt to produce weapons again. He was back in business but without his own company. The Colt's Patent Fire Arms Manufacturing Company was operational only in 1855.
After the death of Sam Colt in 1862 his widow and familiy remained owner of the company until 1901.
AND NOW AT LAST:
The famous Colt.45 is one of the results of the cooperation between the Colt Company and John Browning from 1895 on; the Rifle Model 1911A1 was another.

and btw: weapons do not solve problems. They cause problems ...

the Tanto was a dagger
Wakizashi was the short swords you see the ninjas in movies mean
Katana was the larger sword commonly associated with samurais
